This tutorial was written by me on March 31st, 2014 and was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP. You will need the following supplies:
"Hibiki" is a gorgeous tagger-size kit by Scottish Butterfly Creations and is available at Heartbeatz Creationz. Thank you Heidi!
I used the stunning artwork of Marco Guaglione who was with PTE when I purchased this tube. The tube came with a main tube and two close-ups.
Template #26 by Scrapity Scrap and More (aka A Space Between).
Mask #79 by Designs by Vaybs.
Font: I used Sumdumgoi Regular, HERE.
*Note: When referring to drop shadows, I use the following abbreviations:
V = Vertical
H = Horizontal
O = Opacity
B = Blur
~~ Let's get started! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.
Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate; close the original.
Delete the credit layer. Change the canvas size to 800 x 700. Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.
Activate the circle layer. Select all, float and defloat. From the kit, open paper 5 and resize 70%. Copy and paste as a new layer. Invert selection and tap delete. Do not deselect. Open the second close-up tube. Mirror and resize 95%. Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired within the selection; tap delete. Change the blend mode to Multiply. Deselect and delete original layer. Apply a drop shadow to the tube, I used V&H: 2, O: 40, B: 12.
Activate the top rectangle layer. Select all, float and defloat. Open paper 1 and resize 65%. Copy and paste as a new layer. Invert selection and tap delete. Deselect and delete original layer. Repeat for bottom rectangle.
Activate frame backdrop layer. Select all, float and defloat. Open paper 7 and resize 70%. Copy and paste as a new layer. Invert selection and tap delete. Do not deselect.
Mirror the first close-up tube. Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection. Tap delete and deselect. Change the blend mode to Soft Light. Delete the original layer. Drop shadow the tube using the same settings as above.
Activate circle border layer. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #090100. Deselect and delete original layer. Apply drop shadow, I used V&H: 2, O: 55, B: 8. Repeat for the remaining border and frame layers.
Activate the dotted lines. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #c8b687. Deselect and delete original layer. Apply drop shadow above.
Copy and paste the main tube as a new layer and mirror. Place as shown and apply drop shadow above.
Add your elements, I used:
Tree Branch 2: resize 40%. Duplicate and mirror. Duplicate and free rotate 45° left. Arrange the layers as shown in my tag. Merge these 3 layers together and arrange above the background layer on the left side. Duplicate the merged layer and move down. See my tag for placement. Drop shadow.
Lamp: resize 40%
Cherry Blossom 3: resize 30%
Cherry Blossom 1: resize 20%, then 80%
Food Tray: resize 30%, then 90%
Chopsticks 2: resize 25%, then 85%
Flower: resize 40%; duplicate
Paper Lantern: resize 23%; duplicate twice
Drop shadow all remaining elements.
Hide the background layer and merge visible. Resize the merged layer 85%. Unhide the background and add a new raster layer. Select all. Copy and paste paper 7 into the selection. Deselect and apply DBV mask #79. Merge the mask group and use the raster deform tool to adjust mask size and placement. Reduce the opacity to 65.
Crop and resize your tag. Add your name using the font Sumdumgoi Regular, size 48, stroke 0, colour #090100. Apply drop shadow of choice or use my settings: V: 2, H: 2, O: 55, B: 6.
