This tutorial was written by me on July 3rd, 2014 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP. You will need the following supplies:
"Fourth Of July" is a great FTU scrap kit by Wicked Princess Scraps. Download from her blog HERE and please remember to leave a thank you before you leave. I know it means a lot to designers to know that you appreciate them sharing their work. :)
I used the sexy pin-up art of Keith Garvey, who was with MPT when I purchased this tube. You can now buy his tubes from his store HERE.
Wonderful 4th of July template by Dee of Dangerously Delicious Designs. Download from her blog HERE (scroll down).
Mask #35 by WeeScotsLass.
Plug-in: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow
Font: American Bush Shame, HERE.
~~ Let's get started! ~~
Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate; close the original.
Change the canvas size to 800 x 800. Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white. Delete the info layer.
Activate the teal circle layer. Select all, float and defloat. From the kit, open paper 10 and resize 70%. Copy and paste as a new layer. Invert selection and tap delete. Deselect and delete the original layer.
Repeat these steps for the following layers:
large grey rectangle: use paper 2, resize 75%
left blue rectangle: use paper 9
right blue rectangle: use paper 9
Activate top blue swirl. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #111382. Deselect and delete the original layer. Repeat these steps for layers bottom blue swirl and teal circle.
Activate top red swirl. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #880000. Deselect and delete the original layer. Repeat these steps for layers bottom red grunge swirl, bottom red swirl and your choice of stamp (I used stamp choice 2).
Activate top taupe swirl. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #e1e1e4. Deselect and delete the original layer. Repeat these steps for layers bottom taupe swirl, taupe stars and taupe circle.
Change background to gradient with these settings:
Drop down menu: choose Foreground/Background
Select grey strip layer. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient. Deselect and delete original layer.
Apply drop shadows of choice. For the template elements, I used 0, 0, 55, 12. For the pixel words and dotted rectangles I used 2, 2, 63, 8.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange on the right side of the tag. Apply drop shadow of choice.
Add your elements, I used:
Burst: resize 60%
Burst 2: do not resize
Firecracker: resize 65%
Balloon 2: resize 40%; duplicate and free rotate 20° left. Arrange as shown.
Apply drop shadow to all elements. Hide the background layer and merge visible. Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer. Select all; copy and paste paper 8 into the selection. Deselect and apply WSL mask #35. Merge the mask group. Use the raster deform tool to adjust mask size and placement.
Crop and resize your tag. Change the background to #111382 and leave the foreground as is. Activate the font tool and select American Bush Shame, size 72, stroke 1. You may need to change the size depending on how much you resized your tag. Place your name where desired. Apply Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow using these settings:
Under the Colour tab, select the Fat preset.
Under the Basic tab:
Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked
Apply drop shadow of choice. Add all applicable copyright and license information and save your tag as a png. You're finished! Thanks for trying my tutorial. :)
