Hoo's There?


This tutorial was written by me on June 29th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

Mask #1 from Dees'Sign Depot.  Thanks so much Dee!

Font: Caramel Candy, a pay font.  Any nice script font will be fine.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate; close the original.

Delete the credit layer.  Change the canvas size to 800 x 800.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Rectangle 1; select all, float and defloat.  From the bonus paper pack that came with the kit, open Paper 1 and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 0, Opacity 75, Blur 12.

Activate Rectangle 2; select all, float and defloat.  From the bonus papers, open Paper 7 and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow.

Activate Rectangle 3; select all, float and defloat.  From the bonus papers, open Paper 8 and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow.

Repeat for Rectangle 4.

Apply drop shadow to Circle Back.

Activate Circle; select all, float and defloat.  From the kit, open Paper 2 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Invert selection and apply Gaussian Blur with a radius of 15 (Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur > Radius 15).

Invert selection once again.

Copy the tube directly above the image and paste as a new layer.  Arrange as desired, then use the eraser to remove parts of the tube outside the circle.  Deselect and remove the moon.  Copy the moon that came with the tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and move beneath the owl.  Position as shown.  Apply drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 2, Opacity 75, Blur 10.

Add your elements, I used:

#2: resize 60%
#3: resize 60%
#25: resize 30%, then 90%
#13: resize 50%
#30: resize 50%
#33 & 34: resize each 20%; free rotate right or left 20 degrees and sharpen.  Duplicate as many times as you wish and scatter around the tag.
#36: resize 50%
#53: resize 35%
#55: resize 30%

Apply drop shadow to all elements.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.

Foreground: #70cbc4
Background: #1c1331

Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: unchecked

Flood fill the new layer with the gradient.  Apply gaussian blur with the same settings as above.

Apply Dees'Sign Depot mask #1 and merge mask group.

Crop and resize your tag, add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png and you're finished.  Thanks for trying my tutorial!

Summer Melody


This tutorial was written by me on June 22nd, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

Mask #82 by Signature Collections.

Eye Candy 5 Perspective Shadow (optional)

Font: I used Taiga Italic, a pay font.

Drop shadow used throughout, unless otherwise noted: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10.

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 700, white background.

From the kit, open wall02 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move to the left.  Duplicate and arrange the copy behind the original.  Open wall01, resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Duplicate and arrange each of these images as many times as desired until you achieve the look you want.  Mirror some of the images as well.  See my image below for reference.  When you're happy, hide the background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer.

Using the rectangle selection tool with feather set to 15, draw a selection around the right side of your wall, like this:

Tap delete two or three times.  Deselect.  Apply drop shadow above.

Open Grass and resize 40%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the left side of the wall.  Duplicate and arrange the copy on the right side.  Merge these two layers together.

Using the rectangle selection tool with feather set to 15, draw a selection across the bottom edge of the grass.  Tap delete two or three times to soften the edge.  Deselect and apply drop shadow.

Activate the Heartstrings Blur tube.  Copy and paste as a new layer and resize 85%.  Move to the left side of the tag.

I used Eye Candy 5 Perspective Shadow for the tube.  If you don't have this plug-in, use V-4, H 4, Opacity 35, Blur 20.  If you have this plug-in, here are the settings I used:


Add the rest of your elements, I used:

Butterflies01: resize 40%
Floral08: resize 40%
Flowers02: resize 30%
Flowers03: resize 15%
Flowers04: resize 10%
Flowers10: resize 35%, then 90%
Flowers11: resize 25%

Apply drop shadow indicated in the introduction to all elements.

Hide the background and merge visible.  Unhide background and add a new raster layer.  Flood fill with #abac6c.  Apply Signature Collections mask #82 and merge mask layer.

Crop and resize the tag.  Add your name.  I used Taiga Italic, size 65, stroke 0, anti-alias sharp, colour white.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 6.

Add all copyright and license info.  Save as a png and you're finished, enjoy your new tag!

Oh Canada! (FTU)


Canada will be celebrating its 146th birthday this July 1st, so I thought I'd create a tag to celebrate and honour this beautiful and diverse country.  I'm very proud to be a Canadian!  ♥♥♥

This tutorial was written by me on June 15th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

Lovely free-to-use scrap kit called "Canada Day Eh" by Wench Designs.  Download HERE.  Please remember to say thanks for hard work freely shared.  :)

Beautiful tube by Ted Hammond, available from CDO.  Please don't use without a license.

My template #9, download HERE.

Mask #80 by Signature Collections.

Font: I used Times New Roman.

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open my template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate and close the original.

Change the canvas size to 800 x 700.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Delete the credit layer.

Activate the circle layer and flood fill with #970906.

Foreground: #970906
Background: White

Change the foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Activate the rectangle layer; select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient.

Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur > radius set to 15.  Do not deselect.

Open the tube and mirror the image.  Resize 125%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection, see my tag for placement. Tap delete and deselect.  Change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to 70%.

Delete the original layer.

Activate the tube and click undo twice to return it to its original size and orientation.

Activate the long rectangle layer; select all, float and defloat.

From the kit, open Paper 2 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange on the left side of the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.  Duplicate the paper layer and mirror.  Move the copy below the original and arrange.  Merge these two layers together.  Apply drop shadow; I used H&V 0, Opacity 53, Blur 12.  Apply this drop shadow to the two glitter layers as well.

Activate the Oh Canada layer; select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the foreground colour.  Click two or three times or until you achieve the opacity you like.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 53, Blur 6.

Activate maple leaves layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the background layer (white).  Click two or three times to achieve desired opacity.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow above.

Open Poppy 1 and resize 40%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the long rectangle layer.  Duplicate, mirror and arrange as shown.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 53, Blur 10.

Open Flower 7 and resize 40%.  Copy and paste as a new layer below the poppy layers.  Arrange as shown and apply drop shadow.

Open Butterfly 2 and resize 20%.  Free rotate 15 degrees right.  Copy and paste as a new layer; duplicate and mirror.  Drop shadow.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and arrange as shown.  Apply drop shadow, I used V -1, H 7, Opacity 38, Blur 18.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background and add a new raster layer.  Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 7
Invert: unchecked

Flood fill with the gradient and apply Gaussian Blur using the settings above.

Apply Signature Collections mask #80 and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the size and placement to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag.

Swap the foreground and background.

Add your name:

Font: Times New Roman
Size: 90
Stroke: 1
Anti-alias: Sharp
Create as Vector

Type your name and place as desired.  Layers > Convert to Raster Layer.

Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 53, Blur 6.

Add all copyright and license information.  Save as a png and you're finished.  Enjoy your new tag and Happy Canada Day!

All Dogs Go To Heaven


This tutorial was written by me on June 9th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

Mask #81 by WeeScotsLass.

A script-y font, I used Mon Amour Alt, a pay font.

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate; close the original.

Delete the credit layer.  Change the canvas size to 800 x 700.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Square 1; select all, float and defloat.  From the kit, open Paper_03 and resize 60%. Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Apply drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 12.

Repeat the steps above for all remaining layers, using these papers:

Square 2: Paper_03
Rectangle: Paper_08
Lines: Paper_03
Circle: Paper_02.  Do not drop shadow, do not deselect.  Open the tube and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as shown within the selection.  Activate the eraser and carefully remove parts of the tube from the top, left side and bottom.  See my tag for reference.  Deselect.

Apply drop shadow to the tube, I used V -7, H 0, Opacity 32, Blur 18.

Activate Glitter Circle and apply this drop shadow: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12.

Add your elements, I used:

Candle_02: resize 40%
Bible_01: resize 50%
Heart_01b: resize 40%
Heart_01: resize 40%, then 70%.  Duplicate and mirror.

Apply drop shadow of choice to elements.  I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 12.

Using the font Mon Amour Script Alt (or similar), set the size to 30, create as a vector, anti-alias sharp, stroke 0.  Background set to #353626.  Type "All dogs go to" and click OK.

Layers > Convert to Raster Layer.

Change the font size to 58 and type "Heaven".  Click OK and convert to Raster layer.

Arrange these two layers as shown.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 6.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer.

Add your name, using the same size and settings.

Crop and resize your tag.

Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.

Copy and paste Paper_06 into the selection.  Deselect.

Apply WSL mask #81 and merge the mask group.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png and you're finished.  Enjoy your new tag!
