Let It Snow (2)

(This is a subtle animation, click the tag to see it full-size)

This tutorial was written by me on December 16th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.  You will need the following supplies:

"Let It Snow" is a beautiful new kit by QueenBrat Designs and is available at her store HERE.  Thank you for this delightful kit Renee'!

"Snow Birds" is a stunning tube by Susan Justice McKivergan and is available at Up Your Art.

"Let It Snow" template by Twyzted T's Playroom.

Christmas mask #10 by Designs by Vaybs.

DSB Flux, Bright Noise

Font: Fragrance or similar

*Note: when referring to drop shadow, V stands for Vertical, H for Horizontal, O for Opacity and B for Blur.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate and close the original.

Delete the credit layer, as well as the following layers: Raster 4, 7 and 7 Shadow 1.

Resize all layers 85%, change the canvas size to 800 x 700.  Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Copy of Raster 5; select all, float and defloat.  From the kit, open Blue Snowflake Grunge paper and resize 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Copy the close-up that came with the tube and paste as a new layer.  Arrange as shown within the selection and tap delete.  Change the blend mode to Luminance and reduce the opacity to 60.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Activate Raster 5; select all, float and defloat.  Use the same paper and follow the same steps as above.  Simply duplicate and mirror the close-up tube when you get to that step.

Apply a drop shadow to the two paper layers, I used V&H 0, O 60, B 15.

Activate Raster 3; select all, float and defloat.  Open White Glitter paper and resize 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Repeat for Copy of Raster 3.  Apply drop shadow above to these two layers.

Follow these steps for Raster 2 and 8, using the Blue Snowflake paper.  Drop shadow.

Decorate the rectangles with the White, Blue and LtBlue Snowflakes.  Resize each 15%, and then a further 50 to 70%.  Duplicate and resize as desired until you achieve the look you want.  When finished, hide all other layers and merge the snowflake layers together.  Duplicate 3 times for a total of 4 layers.  Rename each Glitter 1, Glitter 2, etc.  Hide all but Glitter 1.

Make sure Glitter 1 is active.  Effects > Plugins > DSB Flux > Bright Noise with these settings:

Intensity: 80
Mix button selected.
Click OK.

Hide Glitter 1, open and activate Glitter 2.  Repeat the Bright Noise plugin, this time clicking the Mix button twice.

Repeat for Glitter 3, clicking the Mix button three times.
For Glitter 4, click the Mix button four times.

Hide all glitter layers except Glitter 1.

Resize the main tube 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange in the center of your tag.  Apply a drop shadow, I used V 0, H 4, O 26 and B 18.

Add the rest of your elements, I used:

Blue Glitter Leaves: resize 35%, duplicate twice and mirror.
Blue Glitter Tree: do not resize, duplicate and arrange copy beneath the original to create the look shown on my tag, merge together.
Blue Poinsettia: resize 30%; duplicate and mirror.
LtBlue Poinsettia: resize 35%; duplicate and mirror.
White Poinsettia: resize 25%; duplicate and mirror.
White Berries: resize 30%, then 70%; duplicate and mirror.
White Pinecones: resize 20%, then 70%; duplicate and mirror.

Drop shadow for all elements except Blue Glitter Tree: V&H 2, O 55, B 10.

Drop shadow for Blue Glitter Tree: V&H 1, O 23, B 6.

Add a new raster layer above the background layer.  Select all, copy and paste White Snowflake Paper into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply DBV Christmas mask #10 and merge mask group.  Reduce the opacity to 50.

Add a new raster layer above the mask layer.  Select all; copy and paste White Multicolour Snowflakes paper into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the same mask and merge the mask group.  Merge down.  Adjust size and placement of the mask layer with the raster deform tool.

Crop your tag and resize all layers 85%.

Add your name, I used Fragrance, size 72, Stroke 0, colour #5e92ba.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.

Open Animation Shop.

In PSP, make sure the Glitter 1 layer is open and all other glitter layers are hidden.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In Animation Shop: Edit > Paste > As New Animation.

Back in PSP: hide Glitter 1 and open Glitter 2.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In AS: Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.

In PSP: hide Glitter 2 and open Glitter 3.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In AS: Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.

Repeat for Glitter 4.

In AS:

Edit > Select All.

Animation > Frame Properties > change the display time to 15.

View > Animation to check your work.

Save as a gif and you're finished!  Thanks for trying my tutorial, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed creating it for you.  :)
