Kitty Love

This tutorial was written by me on August 10th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

"Hear Me Rawr ... Meow!" is an adorable tagger-size kit by HorsePlay's Pasture Designs.  I fell in love with this the moment I saw it, it's just so cute.  You can purchase it at Scraps From The Heart.  The entire tag was made using only the elements that came with the kit.  :)  Thanks so much for another awesome kit Bev!

Template #18 by Tracy F. Designz.  Download from her blog HERE.  Scroll down and you will find bulk download links on the right side.

Mask #98 by WeeScotsLass.

Font: I used Of Wildflowers and Wings, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate; close the original.

Change the canvas size to 800 x 700.  Delete the credit layer.

Add a new raster layer, flood fill with white and send to the bottom.

Activate Large Rectangle layer; select all, float and defloat.

From the kit, open Paper 14 and resize 70%; copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for the following layers, using the papers indicated, or choose different papers if you wish:

Large Strip: Paper 13
Small Strip 1: Paper 12
Small Strip 2: Paper 12
Scallop Circle: Paper 1
Square 1: Paper 14 - After adding the paper, do not deselect.  Open element #17; copy and paste as a new layer.  Arrange within the selection as desired.  Tap delete and deselect.  Change the blend mode to multiply and reduce the opacity to 65%.
Square 2: Paper 8

Apply drop shadow of choice to all template layers.  I used H&V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 12.

Activate Dotted Square 1.  Change the foreground colour to #265435 and the background colour to white.  Activate the Colour Replacer tool and change the settings to:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Tolerance: 20

Center the brush on the canvas and left click once.  Repeat for Dotted Square 2.  Apply drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 10.

Resize element #17 85%; copy and paste as a new layer and position on the left side of the tag.  See my tag for placement.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 10.

Activate the text tool and choose "Of Wildflowers and Wings".  Set the size to 30, Stroke 0, Create as Vector.  Set background to #fbfcfb.  Type a quote of choice, I used "A kitten is in the animal world what a rosebud is in the garden".  Convert to a raster layer and place as shown.  Change the font size to 26 and type ~Robert Southey, who is the author of the quote.  Convert to raster layer and arrange.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 5.

Add the rest of your elements, I used:

#7: resize 35%
#11: resize 65%; free rotate 20° right; duplicate and resize 80%
#12: resize 65% and mirror; free rotate 40° left and sharpen.  Duplicate and mirror.
#14: resize 35%
#15: do not resize; duplicate and mirror
#31: resize 35%
#32: resize 30%
#46: resize 40%
#68: resize 35%

Apply drop shadow to all elements, I used H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 10.

Hide background layer and merge visible.  Resize merged layer 85%.

Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy Paper 14 and paste into the selection; deselect.  Apply WSL mask #98 and merge mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust mask size and placement.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name, using the same font with the size set between 65 and 72.  Apply drop shadow above.

Add any applicable credit and save as a png.  Enjoy your new tag and please feel free to show me your results HERE.

Hugs, Carol♥
