Joy Is A Basket Full Of Cats (FTU)

This tutorial was written by me on August 24th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

"Joy Is A Basket Full Of Cats" is an adorable tube by Helena Reis and is available at PSP Tube Stop.

"Lovely Embrace" is a beautiful FTU kit created by Mirella at A Space Between.  Thank you so much for freely sharing your hard work hun!
**Edit April 5, 2014: It appears this kit was only available as FTU for a limited time as Mirella now has it for sale in her shop HERE.

Template is HH_Template6-FTH created by me for the "From The Heart" blog train.  It's one of six bundled together and available HERE.

Font: SC Tina's Baby Shower, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Open the template in PSP.  Delete the TOU and Heart Deco layers.  Change the canvas size to 800 x 800.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank areas with white.

Activate Small Rectangles; select all, float and defloat.  From the kit, open Paper 11 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 12.

Activate Lrg Circle; select all, float and defloat.  Open Paper 13 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.

For the three small circles, follow these steps:

Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill selection with #e34d3f.  Do not select.  For the middle circle, resize the tube 80%, then copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete.  Deselect.  Change the blend mode to Screen. Delete the original layer.

For the other two circles, copy and paste the basket of cats (do not resize) and arrange within the selection.  Mirror the tube for one of them.

Apply a drop shadow of choice to all frames, I used H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 10.

Foreground: #e34d3f
Background: #d3cfa0

Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 7
Invert: unchecked

Activate Effect layer; select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Add your elements, I used:

#1: resize 50%
#5: resize 60%
#10: resize 45%
#25: resize 50%; free rotate 90° right and arrange behind the top circle.  Duplicate and mirror, then arrange behind the middle circle.  Duplicate again and free rotate 7° right and arrange behind the bottom circle.  Paste original once again (it will still be on the clipboard) and resize 50%.  Arrange across the top of the large circle frame.
#38: resize 80% and arrange above the background layer at the bottom of the tag.  Use the eraser to remove any hearts you don't want.  Duplicate and arrange at the top.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer, resize 80% and arrange on the left side of the tag.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, I used V 2, H 8, Opacity 45, Blur 18.

Activate the text tool and type "Joy Is A Basket Full Of Cats" using these settings:

Font: SC Tina's Baby Shower
Size: 48
Stroke: 0
Anti-alias: Sharp
Create As: Vector
BG: #a91d21

Center the text in the large circle.  Layers > Convert to Raster Layer.  Apply the same drop shadow you used for the elements.

Hide the background and effect layers and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 95%.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name using the same settings, but change the size to 72.  Apply drop shadow.

Save your tag as a png and you're finished, enjoy!

I love to see what you create with my tutorials, please feel free to show me your work HERE.

Hugs, Carol♥

  2. Hi Minrey and thanks for visiting my blog. Unfortunately, it looks like Mirella has changed the privacy of her page from open to invitation only. Perhaps you could try contacting her and asking for an invitation? She has a Facebook page, just search for A Space Between. :)
