Seven Shades Of Sin

This tutorial was written by me on August 19th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used an awesome full-size kit by Designed by Stina called "Fifty Shades Of Grey".  Please visit Stina's blog HERE for links to her stores.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube & close-up: I used one of Arthur Crowe's stud muffins <g> which I purchased from PTE.  Arthur now has his own tube store HERE.

A quote from the book "Fifty Shades Of Grey" by E.L. James.  My text, saved as a png file is HERE.

Mask: I used mask #201 by Gem's Taggin' Scraps.

Font: I used Fragrance, a pay font, but any nice script font will do.  : )

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Frame01 and resize 30%.  Copy and paste as a new layer; free rotate 90 degrees left.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 10%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move beneath the frame.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open the close-up tube and resize 75%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the frame.  Tap delete and deselect.  Change blend mode to Luminance (L).  Apply drop shadow to the tube and the frame, I used H&V 2, Opacity 68, Blur 10.  I used the same drop shadow throughout.

Copy and paste my text as a new layer.  Drop shadow has already been applied.  Duplicate this layer and reduce the opacity of the copy to 75%.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer.  Move the frame slightly to the left.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and arrange on the right side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Add your elements, I used:

Butterfly01: resize 5%, then 85%; free rotate 25 degrees right.  Sharpen
Butterfly02: resize 5%, then 85% x2, free rotate 25 degrees left.  Sharpen
ChainWire: resize 17%, use the raster deform tool to further adjust the size to your satisfaction.  Reduce the opacity to 65%
Deco01: resize 15%; free rotate 90 degrees left
Feather: resize 15%, then 85%
Flower01: resize 5%, then 70%
Handcuffs: resize 10%
Key: resize 10%, then 70%
Rose02: resize 5%, then 90%; duplicate
Bow01: resize 10%; free rotate 25 degrees left
Ribbon01: resize 10%; duplicate and mirror

Apply drop shadow to all elements.

Hide background layer and merge visible.  Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished, enjoy your new tag!

Lost In The Woods (FTU)

Lost In The Woods

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used an awesome FTU kit called "Autumn Feel" by Scraps Dimensions.  Please remember to leave a thank you when downloading!  Thank you so much for this lovely kit Doris!

Tube: I used a fabulous new tube by Mitzi Sato Wiuff called "Lost In The Woods".  This is such a beautiful, whimsical tube, I LOVE it!  Mitzi's tubes are available at PSP Tube Stop.

Mask: I used mask #187 by Gem's Taggin' Scraps.

Font: I used JoliScript, HERE.

Drop shadow used for all elements except #35: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10
For element 35: H&V 2, Opacity 32, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or  folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open element 31 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Activate the freehand selection tool and change settings to:

Selection type: Point to point
Mode: Add (Shift)
Feather: 0
Smoothing: 0
Anti-alias and Use all layers unchecked

Draw a selection around the frame, like this:


Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open element 11 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer above the paper, arrange on the left side of the frame.  Duplicate and resize 70%, mirror and arrange on the right.  Duplicate again and resize 60%.  Arrange these layers as seen in my tag or as desired.  Drop shadow and tap delete after each addition to remove the excess.

Open element 16 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer in front of the trees.  Tap delete

Open element 36 and resize 35%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange in front of the fence, duplicate and arrange the copy.  Tap delete after each addition.  Deselect.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange on the right side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Add your other elements, I used:

6: resize 30%
8: resize 50%
10: resize 40%; free rotate 25 degrees right.  Paste again, free rotate 15 degrees left.  Duplicate these layers as desired.
26 & 27: resize each 15%, then 85%
32: resize 15%
33: resize 10%
34: resize 70%
35: do not resize; duplicate and mirror, apply drop shadow noted above
36: resize 70%

Apply drop shadows.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished.  Enjoy your new tag!

Ah-Ah-Choo! (FTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used an adorable kit by Bev of Horseplay's Pasture Designs.  This is a FTU add-on to her wonderful "Ah-Ah-Choo" kit which is available at Lollipops & Gumdrops, Butterfly Blush or Inspirations of Scrap Friends (links located in the far right column).  You can download the add-on that I used for this tag at Bev's blog HERE.  Please remember to say "thanks" before you download, it's a small gesture for hard work freely shared and it means a lot.  : )

Plug-in used: Mura's Meister Copies.  This is a freeware plug-in but is fairly old, I was able to find a download link HERE, but I haven't tried it so I don't know if it actually works.  You could always try doing a search yourself.

Mask: I used mask #10 by Dees'Sign Depot.

Font: I used Willing Race, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10.

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open element 16 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.  Copy and paste a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Move below the frame, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect.  Drop shadow the frame, and merge these two layers together.

Open element 15 and resize 70%, then 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Free rotate 45 degrees left.  Click inside the frame using the magic wand and expand the selection by 5.  Open a paper of choice and resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Invert the selection again.

Using the Willing Race font set to size 22, create as a vector, colour #292b00, type Ah-Ah-Choo! in the middle of the selection.  Convert to a raster layer.  Apply Mura's Meister Copies.  Choose "Tiling" from the drop down menu on the left, and adjust the settings to this:


Click OK.  Deselect.  Apply drop shadow to the frame and the text.  Merge these three layers together and arrange on top of the first frame.

Select the Preset Shape tool and choose Ellipse from the drop down menu.  Anti-alias and Create as a Vector checked.  Line Width set to 0.  Open a paper of choice and minimize.  Change the background to pattern and select the paper from the drop down list.  Angle set to 0 and Scale set to 100.  Draw out a circle approximately 350 x 350.  Adjust the size using the nodes if desired, then change to raster layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open element 11 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Duplicate and arrange as desired, tap delete again if necessary.  Apply drop shadow.

Invert selection and expand by 15.  Open a different paper and minimize.  Change the foreground to pattern and select the new paper, use the same settings as above.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill the selection with this paper.  Contract the selection by 20 and tap delete.  Deselect.  Add an inner bevel using these settings:


Drop shadow the frame.  Merge the frame, dotted element and paper (3 layers) together.  Duplicate this layer and arrange on the left side.  See my tag for placement.

Add your other elements, I used:

1: resize 25%
2: resize 25%; free rotate 25 degrees left
3: resize 75%
4: resize 55%
5: resize 40%
6: resize 50%, then 85%
7: resize 50%

Apply drop shadow.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 85%.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Open a paper of choice and paste into selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Add your name and save as a png or jpg.  You're finished!

Nature's Precious Gems (PTU)

Nature's Precious Gems

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a gorgeous kit called "Jewelled Spring" by A Tagger's Scrap.  You can get it at Sophisti-Scraps.  Thanks so much Jo!

Tube: I used a beautiful tube by Katerina Koukiotis called "The Arrival of Spring".  I love this artist, her portraits are breathtaking!  You can purchase her art from PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use without a license.

Mask: I used mask #80 by Designs by Vaybs.

Font: I used 2Peas Sonnets Script, HERE.

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open frame4 and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.  From the kit, open sparkles and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, position as desired.  Tap delete and deselect.  Apply a light drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 25, Blur 10.

Resize the tube 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer above the sparkles.  Arrange as desired. Duplicate the tube and move the copy above the frame.

Activate the frame layer and click inside the frame with the magic wand.  Activate the tube copy layer and remove the parts of the tube that are outside the selection at the bottom.  Deselect.  Drop shadow the bottom (original) tube layer only, I used H&V 2, Opacity 57, Blur 12.

Now add your elements, I used:

greenery4: resize 60%; duplicate and mirror
greenery2: resize 70%, mirror; paste again and resize 60%, arrange on top of first layer
beadsprig: resize 60%
beadsprig2: resize 35%; duplicate and mirror
bow1: resize 40%
bottle: resize 40%
bottle2 & 3: resize each 50%
flower3: resize 40%
flower4: resize 50%, then 85%
flower8: resize 22%
flower5: resize 80%; free rotate 90 degrees left and mirror.  Paste again, free rotate and resize 70%.  Arrange; see my tag for reference.
gemscatter3: resize 70%; duplicate and mirror.  Apply same drop shadow as sparkle layer.
butterfly: resize 35%; free rotate 25 degrees right or left.  Duplicate and mirror.

Drop shadow all elements, I used H&V 2, Opacity 57, Blur 8.  Drop shadow the frame, I used H&V 0, Opacity 57, Blur 12.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection and deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

Endless Summer (PTU)

Endless Summer

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a wonderful kit called "Long Hot Summer" by Baby Cakes Scraps. Thanks so much Lynne, I love this kit!

Tube: I used one of Keith Garvey's awesome toon tubes, "Summer Toon".  Keith was with MPT at the time I purchased this tube and will be opening his own store soon.  Please don't use his art without a license.

Template: I used one of Twyzted T's awesome temps, #27.

Mask: I used mask #35 by Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.

Font: I used Payzant Pen, HERE.

Drop shadows used:

For template layers: H&V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 12
For everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete Raster 1 and 6.  Merge together Raster 4 and the two copies of Raster 4 (3 layers total).  Rename this layer "Bars".

Resize all layers 80%.  Change the canvas size to 800 x 750.  Add a new raster layer and send to the bottom.  Flood fill with white.

Activate Raster 2.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and position as desired.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Follow these steps for the remaining template layers, except Bars, Raster 7, Raster 5 and Copy of Raster 5.

Change foreground colour to #e2271c and background to #fffba0.  Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Activate Raster 7.  Select all, float and defloat.  Expand the selection by 1.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Activate the Bars layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the above gradient, this time unchecking the Invert box.

Activate Raster 5.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the foreground colour.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Activate Copy of Raster 5.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the background colour.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer; arrange as shown on my tag.

Activate the circular paper layer on the right side of the tag.  Select all, float and defloat.  Paste your tube as a new layer and resize 115%.  Arrange a portion of the tube within the bottom circle and tap delete.  Deselect and duplicate the tube.  Mirror the copy and arrange within the top circle.  Use the eraser to remove the bottom portion of the tube.  Change the blend mode of both to Luminance.

Now add your elements, I used:

frame (3): resize 25%, then 88%.  Use this to frame the circles on the right side.  Duplicate and mirror.
sun: resize 40%
palm: resize 60%
leaf (2): resize 25%; duplicate and mirror
leaf (3): resize 25%, then 85%; duplicate and flip, remove any excess with eraser
blooms of choice: resize each 10%, then 85%, duplicate some and resize 70%
butterfly2: resize 8%; free rotate 25 degrees right or left.  Sharpen.  Duplicate and mirror

Apply drop shadows to all layers.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into selection.  Deselect and apply the mask, merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpg or png and you're finished.  I hope you enjoy your new tag!

Magical Summer (PTU)

Magical Summer

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a gorgeous kit called "Summer's End - Magical" by Horseplay's Pasture Designs.  What an awesome kit this is, Bev has outdone herself again!!  You can get it at Lollipops & Gumdrops.  Thanks so much Bev!

Tube: I used a lovely tube by Anna Liwanag.  Anna was with PTE when I purchased this tube but as the store has just closed I'm not sure just where you can purchase Anna's art.  I'm sure there will be announcements soon.  Please don't use without a license.

Mask: I used mask #10 from Melissaz Creationz, HERE.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow.

Font: I used Janda Swirlygirl, HERE.

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open SEM_34 and resize 75%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Expand the selection by 5.  Open a paper of choice, resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open SEM_57 and resize 40%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired within the frame.  Tap delete, do not deselect.  Apply a light drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 18, Blur 10.

Open SEM_23 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, position on the right side within the frame.  Tap delete and deselect.

Apply drop shadow to the frame, I used H&V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 12.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and position on the left side of the tag.  Apply drop shadow above.

Add your elements, I used:

SEM_1: resize 80%
SEM_2: resize 20%, then 85%
SEM_8: resize 30%
SEM_13: resize 45%
SEM_15: resize 40%
SEM_17: resize 20%
SEM_18: resize 70%, duplicate x2 and arrange as desired
SEM_20: resize 20%, duplicate x3 and arrange behind the tree in the frame.  Merge these 4 layers together.
SEM_21: resize 20%, then 85%
SEM_22: resize 25%
SEM_25: resize 30%
SEM_26 & 27: resize each 15%, then 85%.  Free rotate 25 degrees left or right.  Duplicate as many times as you wish and arrange.  Resize some of the copies 85%.
SEM_30: do not resize, use the eraser to remove any excess
SEM_43: resize 40%

Drop shadow all elements, I used H&V 2, Opacity 58, Blur 10.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name, I used colour #ac1924.  Apply Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Colour tab:

Select Medium from the menu.  Change the colour to #f9e0e0.

Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Click OK.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished.  Enjoy your new tag!
