Music Of The Night (PTU)

Music Of The Night

This tutorial was written by me on May 30th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit by Designs by Stina called "The Blue Butterfly".  This is a full-size kit and it's really beautiful!  Please visit Stina's blog HERE for links to her stores.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube of choice: I used the art of Anna Marine with a valid license.  You can purchase her tubes at CDO, please don't use without a license.

Template: I used template #114 by Toxic Desirez (scroll down to find the template d/l links).

Mask: I used mask #14 by Melissaz Creationz.

Plug-in used: Xero Porcelain, HERE.

Font of choice: I used Monsieur La Doulaise, a pay font.  Any nice script font will work well.

Drop shadows used:

For template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 15
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Delete the credits and star layers.

Activate the green rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for the remaining template layers.

After adding the paper layer to the Lrg White Circle layer, do not deselect.  Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.  Apply Xero Porcelain using the default settings.

After adding the paper layer to the Sm White Circle layer, do not deselect.  Paste the tube once again and resize 85%.  Arrange within the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.

Apply the Porcelain plug-in once again and duplicate the tube.  Change the blend mode of the original to Overlay and change the copy to Soft Light.

Add your elements, I used:

Foliage02: resize 15%; duplicate and free rotate 15 degrees left, sharpen.  Arrange as desired, see my tag for reference.
Foliage01: resize 15%; duplicate and mirror, use the eraser to remove any bits you don't want.
Heart02: resize 10%, then 70%.  Free rotate 15 degrees right and sharpen.
Bow04: resize 5%
MusicSheet: resize 10%, then 85%; mirror.  Duplicate and free rotate the original 15 degrees left.  Sharpen.
Violin: resize 20% and mirror.  Free rotate 15 degrees left.
Butterfly06 & 07: resize each 10%; free rotate 15 degrees left or right.

Apply drop shadows.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect and apply the mask, merge the mask group.  Resize mask layer 95%.

Crop and resize your tag.  

Type a quote if you like, I used "If music be the language of love ... play on".  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag.

Tangled (FTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful FTU kit by Cindy of Puddicat Creations called "Taste The Rainbow".  You can download from her blog HERE.  Please be sure to thank Cindy for her generosity before you leave, it's a small gesture for hard work freely shared.  : )

Tube of choice: I used a the wonderful art of DL Norton with a valid license.  His tubes are available at Up Your Art.  Please don't use without a license.

Template of choice: I used template #141 from Blissfully Beth.  Scroll down and you'll find the links to download the template packs on the left side.

Mask of choice: I used mask #22 from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy 4000; Gradient Glow (used on name only).

Font used: Silver Twig Swashy, a pay font.

Drop shadows used:

For template layers: H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 48, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Save the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the top three layers.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Add a new raster layer and send to the bottom, flood fill with white.

Activate the black oval frame layer; select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for the other template layers.  After adding the paper layer to the large rectangle (white rect layer), do not deselect.  Copy and paste the layer that contains just the dogs (it comes with the tube) and arrange within the selection to your satisfaction.  I placed the dog on his hind legs first, tapped delete, then pasted again, arranging the other dog next to it.  When satisfied with the placement, tap delete and deselect.  Merge these two layers together and change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy).  Duplicate and mirror.

Copy and paste the main tube as a new layer.

Add your elements; I used:

bling2: resize 70%, duplicate and mirror
sun1: resize 50%
flowers 2: resize 20%, duplicate 3 times
butterfly2: resize 20%, then 85%
butterfly3: resize 20%

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Resize the mask layer 95%.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name and apply gradient glow if desired.  Here's the settings I used:

Under the Colour tab: Select Medium from the menu and change the colour to #fdf85c

Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Click OK.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

Angel of Spring (PTU)

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit called "Love You Mom" by Bubbles Dream.  So many beautiful elements in this kit, I love it!!  You can get it at Inspirations of Scrap Friends.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube of choice: I used a lovely tube by The Vintage Angel™.  You can purchase these tubes from CDO.  Please don't use without a license.

Mask of choice: I used mask #34 from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs, HERE.

Plug in used: Eye Candy 4000; Gradient Glow (used on name only).

Font of choice: I used Adios Script Pro, a pay font.  Any nice script font will work well.

Drop shadows used throughout:

For the tube and frame: H&V 0, Opacity 42, Blur 10
For everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 42, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open element 33 and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert selection and tap delete.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer.  Position within the frame, tap delete.  Deselect.

Add your elements, I used:

4: resize 35%, then 85%.  Duplicate and mirror.  Duplicate again and resize 70%.
10: resize 75%; duplicate and mirror
19: resize 50%; duplicate and mirror
23: resize 80%

Apply drop shadow to all layers.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  I added a gradient glow to my name using Eye Candy 4000 with these settings:

Under the Colour tab: Select Medium, change the colour to #f4cbd1
Under the Basic tab: 
Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Click OK.

Save your tag as a png or jpg and you're finished!

Mermaid Harbour (Animated, PTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an absolutely gorgeous kit by Susan of Tootypup Scraps called "Mermaids Frolic".  The entire tag was made using only elements from the kit.  Please visit Susan's blog HERE for store information.  Thanks so much Susan!

Mask of choice: I used mask #1 by Melissaz Creationz.

Font of choice: I used Quijote Sauvage Text, a pay font.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy Nature; Ripples

Animation Shop.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 825 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open FramePlain_02 and resize 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move to the left side of the canvas.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Expand the selection by 8.

Open a paper of choice and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Invert selection once again.

Duplicate the paper layer twice for a total of 3.  Rename each layer Ripple 1, Ripple 2 and Ripple 3.  Hide Ripple 2 & 3 and activate Ripple 1.

Apply Eye Candy Ripple using these settings:

Under the Settings tab:  choose Waves, Small and Blurry.

Under the Basic tab, change the settings to this:


Click OK.

Hide Ripple 1, open and activate Ripple 2.

Apply Eye Candy Ripples using the settings above, but click the Random Seed button once. Repeat for Ripple 3.

Open MermaidsFrolic_11 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the right side of the frame.  See my tag for placement.

Add your elements, I used:

BeachRocks: resize 70%
WaterSplash_01: resize 55%, then 70%; free rotate 25 degrees right
SeaGrass_02: resize 20%, then 70%; duplicate and resize 80%
Shell_04: resize 12%
Deco_01: resize 50%
Fish_01: resize 10%, then 80%; duplicate and resize 70%
Fish_02: resize 12%; duplicate and resize 50%
Fish_03: resize 20%, then 85%
JellyFish_01: resize 10%; duplicate and mirror, resize 85%
Bubbles_01: resize 15%; duplicate and resize 60%
MermaidsFrolic_05: resize 50%

Apply drop shadow to all elements.

Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection, deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information (if using another tube).

It's time to animate!  Open Animation Shop.

Make sure Ripple 2 and 3 are both hidden and Ripple 1 is open.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In Animation Shop, right click on the workspace and select "Paste As A New Animation".

Back in PSP, hide Ripple 1 and open Ripple 2.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In AS > Edit > Paste > After Current Frame

Repeat for Ripple 3.

Edit > Select All

Animation > Frame Properties > change to 35.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're finished, enjoy your new tag!

Spring Whimsy (PTU)

Spring Whimsy

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a wonderful new kit by Horseplay's Pasture Designs called "Whimsical".  LOVE this kit!!  You can get it at Lollipops & Gumdrops.  Thanks so much Bev!!

Tube of choice: I used the art of Cristina McAllister.  Cristina was with CILM when I purchased this tube and I'm not sure where's she's selling now.  Her website is HERE.

Mask of choice: I used one of the awesome masks from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.  I used mask #31.

Font of choice: I used PS Bluegum Forest, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open element 39 and resize 75%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame layer.  Invert selection and tap delete, do not deselect.

Add elements of choice within the frame and tap delete after each addition.  I used:

10: resize 30%, then 85%
14: mirror; resize 70%
32: resize 20%, then 85%
33: resize 20%
47: resize 40%; duplicate twice, merge these 3 layers and arrange
49: resize 70%

Deselect.  Apply drop shadow to each element.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange on the right side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Add your other elements, and apply drop shadow.  I used:

18: resize 20%; duplicate and mirror, resize 85%
23: resize 17%
29: resize 20%
37: resize 80% and arrange on frame, erase excess.  Duplicate and flip.
49: do not resize
52: resize 60%
57: resize 20%

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide background and add new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust size if desired.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.

Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Thanks for trying my tutorial!
