Snow Much Fun

This tutorial was written by me on December 3rd, 2012.  You will need the following supplies:

Kit: I used "Wrapped In Fun" by Horseplay's Pasture Designs.  What a wonderful kit, I had so much fun with it!  You can purchase it at Lollipops & Gumdrops.  Thanks so much Bev!

Tube: I used the beautiful artwork of Natacha Chohra.  You can purchase this tube, entitled "Snow Day" at PSP Tube Stop.

Template: I used the Snow Fun Temp from Twyzted T's Playroom.

Mask: I used Xmas Mask 11 from Designed by Vaybs.

Snow animation, which I supply HERE.  I've had this animation for a very long time and don't remember where I got it.  If you're the creator, please let me know so I can give proper credit, thanks!

Font: I used Kidprint, HERE.

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Change the canvas size to 800 x 700, then resize all layers 85%.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Delete the following layers: Raster 14, Raster 5, Copy of Raster 10 and Copy of Vector 1.

I positioned my tube and the snow first.  Resize the tube 110%, copy and paste as a new layer and position on the right side of the template; sharpen.  Refer to my tag for placement.

Open El66 (Snow) and resize 75%.  Using your freehand selection tool, draw a selection around the snow like this:

Selections > Modify > Inside/Outside Feather > Select the button beside Both and set the Feather amount to 30.

Invert the selection and tap delete 5 times.  You should have something that looks like this:

Move this to the bottom of the tag, in front of the tube.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the height and width to your satisfaction.  Duplicate and move the copy to the bottom of the layers, just above the background.  Duplicate again and mirror.  Arrange as desired until you have the effect you want.  Apply a light drop shadow to each layer.  I used V -2, H 2, Opacity 15, Blur 10.

Activate Raster 2.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 10.

Repeat these steps for the remaining template layers except Raster 6, 9, 8, 7 and 13.

Drop shadow the frames, I used H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 10.

Activate Raster 6.  Using the magic wand with the Mode set to Add (Shift) and the Match Mode set to Colour, click inside each letter of Snow and Fun.  Open a paper of choice and resize 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.

Set the foreground colour to #d8aa2f.  Activate the Change to Target brush with these settings:

Size: 16
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Opacity: 100
Mode: Colour

Left click and sweep your brush over the words "having" and "much".  Apply drop shadow above.

Add your elements, I used:

El19: resize 40%
El20: resize 70%
El24: resize 40%
El60: resize 65%
El69 & 70: resize 25%, duplicate as desired and resize a further 50 - 70%.  Scatter within the three small frames.
El71: resize 20%, mirror; duplicate and mirror, then flip.
El75: resize 40%; duplicate and mirror.  Free rotate 15 degrees left.  Duplicate again and free rotate 25 degrees left.  Arrange as desired behind the small frames.
El80: resize 35%; duplicate and mirror.

Apply drop shadow to all the elements.

Hide the background and word art layers, then merge visible.  Resize merged layer 90%, unhide the word art layer and resize 90%.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask to your satisfaction.

Crop your tag and add the copyright and license information.  Hide the word art layer.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Open Animation Shop.

Edit > Paste As A New Animation.

Animation > Resize Animation > Resize 80%, bicubic resample.

Edit > Duplicate Selected.  Repeat this until you have 10 frames.  Edit > Select All

Open the snow animation in AS.  Edit > Select All > Edit > Copy.  You can close this now, you won't be using it again.

Select your tag.  Edit > Propagate Paste > Edit > Paste Into Selected Frame.  Arrange the snow over your tag and left click to place it.  If you make a mistake, simply click Undo and try again.

When you're happy, save the file as a gif and you'll have a pre-made template for future tags.  Simply duplicate the original and add new names to it.  : )

Back in PSP, unhide the hidden layers.  Add your name to your tag, drop shadow, and place as shown on my tag.

Hide the merged layer and make sure the word art and your name are the only open layers.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Paste as a new animation in animation shop.  Animation > Resize Animation > resize 80%, bicubic resample.

Edit > Copy.  Insure Propagate Paste is still selected.

Duplicate your original animation.  Edit > Select All.

Edit > Paste > Into Selected Frame.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're finished!

Please feel free to send me your results so I can show them off in my slide show!  Email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol
