Angels We Have Heard On High
This tutorial was written by me on December 4th, 2012. You will need the following supplies:
Kit: I used a gorgeous kit by Scottish Butterfly called "Christmas Romance". You can purchase it at Butterfly Blush. Thank you so much!
Tube & Image: I used the stunning art of Camilla Drakenborg. This tube is called "Angel View" and is available at Up Your Art.
Template: Created by me, download it HERE.
Mask: I used Xmas Mask 11 by Designs by Vaybs. Download from her blog HERE.
Eye Candy Fire, Perspective Shadow & Gradient Glow
Font: I used Old Script, HERE
~~ Remember to save often! ~~
Save the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.
Open my template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.
Delete the credit layer, change the canvas size to 850 x 700. Unhide and activate the background layer; flood fill the blank area with white.
Activate the Circle layer; select all, float and defloat. Open a paper of choice and resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer. Position as desired, then invert the selection and tap delete. Deselect and delete the original layer.
Repeat these steps for the Large Circle and Rectangle layers (you'll need to resize the paper 80% for the rectangle). I used Paper 12 for the rectangle layer and applied the following filter:
Effects > Edge Effects > Enhance. This really makes the snowflakes stand out. : )
Activate the Oval layer, select all, float and defloat. Change the foreground to #fed5e2 and flood fill the selection with this colour. Do not deselect.
Copy the Image layer that comes with the tube and paste as a new layer. Arrange within the selection, then invert and tap delete. Deselect.
Apply Xero Porcelain using the default settings, but change the Red Channel slider to 125, Green to 0 and Blue to 25. Click OK. Reduce the opacity to 55.
Apply a drop shadow of choice to all the frame layers. I used H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 12.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange as shown. Apply a drop shadow of choice, or use Eye Candy Perspective Shadow. Here are the settings I used:
Now add your elements, I used:
Bells: resize 40%
Candle: resize 30%; duplicate and mirror, resize 85%
Holly: resize 40%, then 90%; free rotate 55 degrees left and mirror
Present: resize 40%
Sparkles: resize 70%, arrange on the left side of the tag, above the background layer. Duplicate and mirror. Duplicate again and flip, arrange this layer at the bottom of the tag (see my tag for reference). Use the eraser to remove any parts you don't want.
Apply drop shadow to all but the sparkles. I used H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 10.
Hide the background layer and merge visible. Resize merged layer 85%. Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer. Select all. Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection, deselect. Apply the mask and merge the mask group. Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask to your satisfaction.
Activate the merged layer and merge down. Now zoom in on the candles. Using the freehand selection tool, draw little flame shaped selections on each candle wick. Add four new raster layers and name them Fire 1, Fire 2, Fire 3 and Fire 4. Hide all the new layers except Fire 1.
Select the Eye Candy Fire filter and choose "Small, Candle" under the Settings tab. Change the settings under the Basic tab to this:
Don't change the colour settings. Click OK.
Hide Fire 1, open and activate Fire 2. Apply the filter again, using the same settings, but click the Random Seed button until you see something you like. Click OK.
Follow the same steps for Fire 3 and Fire 4.
Crop and resize your tag. Add the copyright and license information. Hide all Fire layers except Fire 1.
Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.
Open Animation Shop.
Edit > Paste > As New Animation.
Back to PSP. Hide Fire 1 and open Fire 2. Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.
In AS: Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.
Repeat these steps for Fire 3 and 4.
In AS: Animation > Frame Properties > change to 20.
Animation > View to check your work. Now save this as a gif and you have a blank template for future tags. Just remember to duplicate it and close the original. Do that now. : )
Back in PSP, add your name. I used Old Script, size 100 pixels, Stroke set to 0 and Create as a Vector selected. My background colour was set to #fed5e2.
Type your name and convert to raster layer. Apply Eye Candy Gradient Glow (I like to use Eye Candy 4000 for this).
Under the Colour tab: select Medium and change the colour to #796254
Under the Basic tab:
Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked
Copy your name.
In AS: Edit > Paste > As New Animation
Edit > Copy > Edit > Propagate Paste
Now activate the copy of the animated tag you created.
Edit > Select All > Edit > Paste > Into Selected Frame.
Move your name into place and left click.
Animation > View to check your work. If you made a mistake, simply click undo and try again.
Save as a gif and you're finished! Enjoy your new tag.
I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.
