That Old Black Magic
This tutorial was written by me on October 30th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.
Scrap kit: I used an awesome kit by Stargazer Musings called Witchy Forest. You can find it at Lollipops and Gumdrops. Thanks so much for this wonderful kit Star!
Tube: I used a gorgeous tube by Renee Lavoie called "Joelle". Renee's art is available at PSP Tube Stop, you must have a license to use.
Mask: I used mask #80 from Designs by Vaybs.
Font: I used Halloween Scriptana, HERE.
Drop shadows used:
For the moon: H&V 0, Opacity 25, Blur 10
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 68, Blur 10
~~ Remember to save often! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open a new image, 800 x 750, white background.
From the kit, open Frame_3 and resize 60%. Copy and paste as a new layer, place in the center of your canvas, slightly down and to the left.
Using the magic wand, click inside the frame. Expand the selection by 5 and invert. Open a paper of choice and resize 65%; copy and paste as a new layer and arrange inside the frame. Tap delete and deselect.
Open the tube, resize 75%. Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange beside the frame.
Add your elements, I used:
Bird_1: resize 15%
FullMoon_1: resize 35%
CreepyTree_1: do not resize
Bat_1: resize 15% and mirror; paste again and resize 10%
Cauldron_1: resize 40%
BottlesAndPumpkin_1: resize 25%
Broom_1: resize 70%; free rotate 70 degrees left
Candle_1: resize 25%; duplicate and mirror, resize 85%
Grass_1 & Grass_2: resize each 30%, duplicate as desired and arrange as shown in my tag
Leaves_1: resize 30%; duplicate and mirror
Leaf_1 & Leaf_3: resize each 10%, then 85%; duplicate as desired
Flowers_1: resize 25% and mirror
Spiderweb_1: resize 20%, then 90%
Spider_2: resize 10%, then 70%
SpellBooks_1: resize 20%
Apply drop shadows above. Hide the background layer and merge visible. Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer. Select all. Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect. Apply the mask and merge the mask group.
Crop and resize your tag. Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information. Save as a png or jpg and you're finished. Enjoy your new tag!
I'd love to see your results, email me HERE. : )
