Spanish Eyes

This tutorial was written by me on July 10th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a beautiful FTU kit by Rieka called "Redilicious".  You can find it at Creative Misfits Creations.  Please remember to say thank you when downloading, it's a small gesture for hard work freely shared.  : )

Tube: I used a gorgeous tube entitled "Spanish Eyes" by Elizabeth Austin.  I love this artist's work, her pinups are beautiful and I love the effect she creates with their eyes, so pretty and unique!  You can purchase Elizabeth's tubes at Up Your Art.

Template: I used template #141 by Horseplay's Pasture.  Download from Bev's blog HERE.

Mask: I used mask #80 from Designs by Vaybs.

Font of choice: I used Aphrodite Stylistic, a pay font.

Drop shadows used:

For template layers: H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the credit layer and dotted line 1.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Rectangle 1, select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat for Rectangle 1 and the two Circle layers.  (Note: I did not resize the papers for the circle layers.)

After adding the paper to Circle 2, do not deselect.  Resize the tube 95%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Move the tube above the dotted circle layer.  Using the eraser, remove the bits of the tube that are outside the selection at the bottom.  Deselect.

Activate the Dotted Circle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with black.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Activate Dotted Line 2.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with white.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Change foreground to #9f0101 and background to black.  Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Activate Strip 1.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Activate Strip 2.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient, same settings but uncheck Invert.  Deselect, delete original layer.

Add your elements, I used:

Heart-Chain: resize 60%
Butterfly 1 & 2: resize each 35%; free rotate right or left 15 degrees; sharpen
GlittersSwirl2: resize 50%; duplicate and mirror
Flower1: resize 30%, then 80%
Flower2: resize 25%; duplicate

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Flood fill with the following gradient (foreground/background colours same as above).

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Apply the mask and merge the masked group.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE and I'll add them to my slide show!

Hugs, Carol
