Cute As A Bug

This tutorial was written by me on July 27th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a fabulous kit by TLP Designz called "Cute As A Bug".  What a wonderful kit this is!!  You can get it at Inspirations Of Scrapfriends.  Thanks so much Tammy!

Tube: I used an absolutely adorable tube by Sue Rundle-Hughes called "Puppy & Butterfly".  OMG I am in love with this tube, it is soooo cute!!!  Sue is a fabulous artist, check out her work at PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use without a license.

Template: I used one of Bev's awesome templates, #150.  Download from her blog HERE.

Mask: I used mask #80 from Designs by Vaybs.

Font: I used Tipsy Giggles, HERE.

Drop shadows used:

For template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the credit layer and change the canvas size to 800 x 750.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Square 1; select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for all template layers.  Apply drop shadows.

Open the tube and resize the puppy 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange in front of the circle, see my tag for placement.

Now add your elements, I used:

Caterpillar: resize 30%, then 85%
Lace02: resize 50% and place along the bottom of the rectangle.  Use the raster deform tool to stretch it to fit.  Sharpen.
Leaves: resize 40%, then 85%; duplicate and flip; duplicate again.  Arrange above the background layer along the sides of the tag, see my tag for reference.
Flower03: resize 55%
Flower01: resize 50%; duplicate and resize 85%.  Free rotate the copy 15 degrees left.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange as shown.
Ladybug02: resize 30%; duplicate and resize 85%
Button01: resize 30%; free rotate 45 degrees left
Button02: resize 25%, place on top of button 1 and merge down.  Duplicate and resize 70%; duplicate again and arrange as shown.
Flower08 & 10: resize each 20%
Butterfly01 & 02: resize each 20%

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol
