A Darker Love

This tutorial was written by me on July 28th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a fabulous kit by Amy Marie's Kits called "Love Spell".  You can get it at Inspirations of Scrapfriends.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube: I used an awesome tube by Vicki Yeager called "Vampire Lovers".  You can purchase her work at Up Your Art.  Please don't use without a license.

Mask: I used mask #192 from Gem's Taggin' Scraps.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow (for name).

Font: I used Vampiress, HERE.

Drop shadows used:

Frame: H&V 0, Opacity 62, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 62, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Frame2 and resize 90%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open Tree2 and resize 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open the tube and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer beneath the frame.  Duplicate and move the copy above the frame.  Hide the copy and activate the original.  Using the eraser, remove the part of the tube that shows below the frame.  Deselect.

Activate the frame layer and click inside the frame with the magic wand again, do not expand the selection.

Activate the tube copy above the frame and erase the part that covers the frame at the bottom.  Zoom in and carefully remove the bits close to her hair so you don't accidentally remove part of it.  Deselect.  Apply drop shadow to the bottom tube only.

Now add your elements, I used:

Skulls: resize 50%; mirror
Cloud: do not resize; duplicate and arrange as shown
Moon: resize 40%
Tree: resize 70%
El1: resize 30%
GothCross2: resize 60%; free rotate right 15 degrees and sharpen
Grailblood2: resize 45%
Grass: do not resize; duplicate 2x and arrange
Flower1: resize 85% 2x
Leaves: resize 50%, then 85%
Spiderweb: resize 25%

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.

Foreground: #7c7d7f
Background: #dddddd

Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeat: 5
Invert selection: unchecked

Click OK.

Flood fill the new layer with this gradient.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to move the mask up from the bottom and resize as desired.  See my tag for reference.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name using the Vampiress font, colour #792b2b.  Apply Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Colour tab:

Choose Medium from the list and change the colour to #dddddd

Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Click OK.

Add all copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and your tag is complete.  Enjoy it!

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol
