It's Magic

This tutorial was written by me on June 27th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful kit by Tootypup Scraps called "Blue Willow".  Please visit her blog HERE for links to her stores.  Thanks so much Susan!

Tube of choice: I used the beautiful fantasy art of Monica N. Galvan.  "Stardancer" can be purchased from PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use without a license.

Template: I used template #23 from Scrap Rebellion.

Mask: I used mask #79 from Designs by Vaybs.

Plug-ins used: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow (used for name only).
Xero Sparkles, HERE

Font: I used Katie Rose, a pay font.  Any nice script font will work well.

Animation Shop

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the info layer.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate the pink rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat for the black rectangle layer.  After adding the paper, do not deselect.  Duplicate twice for a total of three layers.  Rename each layer Sparkle 1, Sparkle 2 and Sparkle 3.  Hide Sparkle 2 and 3 and activate Sparkle 1.  Apply the Xero Sparkles plug-in using these settings:

Main colour: white
Highlights: #9da8b4

Click OK

HIde Sparkle 1 and open Sparkle 2.  Apply the Sparkle plug-in again, using the same settings but changing the Intensity to 6.

Repeat for Sparkle 3, changing Intensity to 7.  Deselect.

Activate the heart layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice and resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and resize 120%.  Arrange on the left side of the heart, see my tag for reference.  Tap delete.  Duplicate and mirror.  Do not deselect.

Activate the original tube layer (the one on the left).  Effects > Edge Effects > High Pass > Radius: 50.00, Desaturate: checked.  Click OK.

Activate the copy of the tube (on the right) and apply the filter again, this time do not check Desaturate.  Click OK and deselect.  Reduce the opacity of both layers to 75%.

Do the following for all the frames:

Select all, float and defloat.  Flood fill selection with #e4e7f4.  Deselect.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, 70%, Monochrome checked.

Foreground #f7f9f8, change Background to white.  Activate the words layer and use the colour replacer tool to change the colour or leave them white if you prefer.  Apply drop shadow: H&V 2, Opacity 53, Blur 4.

Drop shadow the frames: H&V 2, Opacity 52, Blur 8.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange in the center of the tag.  Apply drop shadow.

Add your elements, I used:

Garden_03: resize 72%
CherryBlossomTree_02: resize 50%, then 80%
Bouquet_01: resize 20%, then 50%
FlowerCluster_02: resize 50%
Bird_01 & 02: resize each 15%, then 85%

Apply drop shadow above to all elements.

Hide all the Sparkle layers and all layers below them.  Merge visible the remaining layers.  Hide the merged layer and open the layers below the Sparkle layers except for the background layer.  Merge visible.

Unhide the first merged layer, Sparkle 1 and the background layer.  Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and apply Eye Candy 4000 gradient glow if desired.  I used the following settings:

Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Under the Colour tab:

Choose Medium, colour: #e4e7f4

Time to animate!  Open Animation Shop.

In PSP: Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged

In Animation Shop: Edit > Paste > As New Animation

Back in PSP: Hide Sparkle 1 and open Sparkle 2.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged

In AS: Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.

Repeat for Sparkle 3.

Edit > Select All

Animation > Frame Properties > change to 25.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol
