Crimson Wings (FTU)

(Click tag to see full-size image)

Crimson Wings

This tutorial was written by me on June 2nd, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a gorgeous full-size FTU kit by Numb Bumm called "Bloom".  You can download from their blog HERE (scroll down).  Please remember to say thanks, it's a small gesture for hard work freely shared.  : )

Tube & Portrait Tube: I used a stunning tube by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff called "Crimson Wings".  Wow, what a gorgeous tube this is and it comes with multiple layers too!  You can purchase it from PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use her art without a license.

Template: I used template #95 from Scrap Rebellion.

Mask: I used mask #80 by Designs By Vaybs.

Font: I used Kaligrafia Galana Dos, a pay font.  Any nice script or swashy font will work well here.

Drop shadows used throughout:

Template elements and tube: H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 57, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Change the canvas size to 850 x 750.  Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank areas with white.  Delete the info layer.

Activate Raster 5, select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 20%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for all template layers.  Add a noise effect to the frame with these settings: Random, Noise: 75%, Monochrome checked.  Click OK.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and move to the right side of the tag.

Activate the paper layer below the frame.  Select all, float and defloat.  Copy and paste the portrait tube as a new layer and arrange on the left side of the frame (see my tag for reference).  Once satisfied with placement, invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.

Effects > Edge Effects > Enhance.  Change the blend mode to Luminance (L) and reduce the opacity to 50%.

Now add your elements, I used:

butterfly3: resize 10%; duplicate and mirror, resize 85%
button4: resize 15%
button1: resize 15%, then 85%, arrange in the centre of button 4
flower8: resize 15% and arrange on the left side of tag as shown.  Duplicate and mirror; free rotate 32 degrees right and sharpen.  Arrange on the right side of tag, behind the main tube.
flower6: resize 5%, then 70%.  Arrange on the vine element, duplicate as many times as you wish.
tag1: resize 12%, then 85%
scatter: resize 20%; duplicate

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into selection and deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

I'd love to see your results so I can add them to my slide show, email me HERE.  : )

Hugs, Carol
