April Showers

This tutorial was written by me on April 22nd, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work with other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful kit called "Evening Sunset" by Designed by Stina.  Thank you for this lovely kit!  Please visit Stina's blog for store information.

Tube of choice: I used a tube by Carmen Keys (Medlin).  She was with MPT when I purchased this tube and I'm not sure where they're available now.  Her website is HERE.

Mask of choice: I used one of the gorgeous masks available at Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.  I used mask #19, HERE.

Font of choice: I used Miss Robertson, a pay font.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

Add a new raster layer and select all.  Open a paper of choice from the kit, copy and paste into the selection.  Deselect.

Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

From the kit, open Arbor and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Apply drop shadow above.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and arrange as shown.  Drop shadow.

Activate the picture tube tool in PSP.  Select "lawn" from the drop down menu, leave the settings at default.  Add a new raster layer above the masked layer.  Click on your canvas several times to create the grass as shown in my tag.  If you make a mistake, simply undo and try again.  Once you're happy with the look, recolour this layer: Adjust > Hue & Saturation > Colorize > Hue: 45, Saturation: 176.  Click OK.  Drop shadow.

Add your elements and apply drop shadow.  I used:

Daffodils03: resize 20%, then 85%
Daffodils02: resize 20%
Daffodils04: resize 20%
Arrange these layers as desired on the right side of the tag, then hide the other layers and merge visible.  Unhide the other layers and duplicate the merged layer, mirror and arrange on left side.  Duplicate again, resize 85% and move below the arbor layer.  Duplicate once again, resize 85%, arrange as seen in my tag.  Duplicate the last two layers and mirror; arrange on right side below the arbor layer.
Paper Butterflies of choice: resize each 10%; free rotate right or left 25 degrees.  Duplicate some of the butterflies and resize 50%, scatter as seen in my tag.
Sparkle02: resize 80%
Sparkle 04: resize 80%; mirror
Light: resize 80%

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

Email me HERE and show me your tag.  : )

Hugs, Carol
