My Sweet Valentine

This tutorial was written by me on February 13th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an awesome FTU kit by Cindy of Puddicat Creations called "Candies Valentine".  Download from Cindy's blog HERE and remember to leave some love before you leave!  It's a small price for hard work freely shared.  : )

Tube of choice: I used the beautiful art of Rachael Tallamy.  You may purchase Rachael's tubes from Up Your Art, you must have a license to use.

Template of choice: I used one of Twysted T's wonderful templates.  Download from her blog HERE.

Mask of choice: I used mask #80 by Vaybs, HERE.

Font of choice: I used Birthday, a pay font.  Saginaw Medium is a free font that would work well, download HERE.

Drop shadows used:

For tag components: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12
For elements: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the credit layer.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Raster 5; select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, arrange as desired.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for Raster 4, 2, and 3.

Activate Raster 9; select all, float and defloat.  Add a new layer and flood fill with #824524.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, 50%, Monochrome checked.

Activate Raster 10.  Use the Colour Replacer tool to change the black text colour to #824524.

Resize the tube 85%, copy and paste as a new layer and move to the left side of the tag.

Add your elements, I used:

balloons1: resize 50%
sparkles1: resize 65%
sparkles2: do not resize
teddybear: resize 35%
flower4: resize 40%
flower5: resize 30%
lovebug1: resize 20%; mirror; free rotate 13 degrees left
lovebug3: resize 20%
ivy2: resize 40%
butterfly4 & 7: resize each 20%
kisses1: resize 10%; duplicate and mirror, resize copy 85%

Hide background layer and merge visible.  Resize merged layer 90%.

Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag.

Email me HERE to show me your results!  : )

Hugs, Carol
