Bad Company

This tutorial was written by me on January 18th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: "S&M" is a wonderful kit created by Tammy of Tammy's Scraps.  Lots of awesome elements and a bold, beautiful colour palette, I love it!  You can get it at Lollipops and Gumdrops.

Tube of choice: I used the sexy pinup art of Elizabeth Austin.  Her tubes are available for purchase at Up Your Art.  You must have a license to use her art.

Template of choice: I used "Bad Company" by Dee, available on her blog HERE.

Mask of choice: I used Mask #19 from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs, HERE.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow.

Font of choice: I used Mackintosh SF, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the following layers: Info, small white circles, pink circles, top grunge and bottom grunge.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Activate the bg layer and flood fill with white.

Activate the left purple rectangle layer; select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice, resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Follow these instructions for *all remaining layers except word art bg, word art and pink strips.

*After adding paper layer to bottom right white circle, copy and paste your tube as a new layer before deselecting.  Arrange within the selection and tap delete.  Change the blend mode to Soft Light.  Repeat for the top left white circle.

*After adding the paper layer to the purple shape, do not deselect.  Paste your tube as a new layer once again and resize 85%.  Arrange within the selection and use your eraser to remove the parts of the tube outside the selection on the bottom.  Use my tag as reference.  Deselect.

Apply drop shadow of choice to all template elements.  I used H&V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 12.

Change foreground to #cf2975 and background to black.  Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 7
Invert: checked

Activate the pink strips layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with this gradient.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow, I used: H&V 2, Opacity 60, Blur 8.

Add your elements, I used:

7: resize 50%, then 80%
16: resize 30%; free rotate 25 degrees right and sharpen
19: resize 70%; duplicate 3 times and arrange above the background layer
22: resize 50%; duplicate three times
24: resize 70%
33: resize 50%
34: resize 65%
57: resize 30%, then 85%
68: resize 30%
70: resize 50%
80: resize 5%, then 85%
82: resize 50%, then 85%
83: resize 45%, then 85%

Apply drop shadow above to all elements.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 85%.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag, add your name and apply Eye Candy Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Colour tab: choose the Fat preset
Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Click OK.  Apply drop shadow above.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol
