Let's Frolic Frosty!

This tutorial was written by me on December 1st, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous Christmas kit by Bev of Horseplay's Pasture Designs called "Christmas In My Heart".  I adore the colour palette of this kit, it's a lovely change from the traditional red and green, very elegant!  You can find it at Lollipops and Gumdrops.  Thanks for this wonderful kit Bev!

Tube of choice: I used the artwork of Elias Chatzoudis.  You can purchase his tubes from PTE, you must have a license to use his art.

Template of choice: I used another one of the fabulous Kandee Christmas collab templates, #4.  Download from Dee's blog HERE.

Mask of choice: I used a freebie mask by Vix, HERE.

Font of choice: I used Aquarelle, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the Info layer.  Change the canvas size to 800 x 750.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate the glitter frame layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #808945.  Deselect.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Uniform, 50%, Monochrome checked.  Click OK.  Delete the original layer.

Activate the heart layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Resize a paper of choice 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Repeat above steps for striped rectangle, green rectangle and red squares.  After pasting the paper layer on the red squares, do not deselect.  Open element 12 from the kit and resize 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.  Delete original layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange as shown in my tag.

We're going to move the text "Let's Frolic Frosty" up a bit so it's placed as shown on my tag.  There are three layers to this text so we need to link them together before moving them.  To do this, activate the "word art black" layer.  Find the square button at the top of your layers palette, as shown below.  Click it once so the colour of the chain changes to blue and a number 1 appears beside it.  This will also appear in the layer itself when it's activated.

Repeat for "word art white" and "word art d/s" layers.  Now use your move tool to move the text up, so it shows above the tube.  All three layers will move together.

Activate word art black.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the same colour as before.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Link this new layer to the others in case you need to move it a bit later on.

Activate Raster 1, select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with white.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Drop shadow all template layers with H&V 0, Opacity 48, Blur 10.  Add a drop shadow of choice to your tube.  I like to use Eye Candy Perspective Shadow for this.

Now add your elements, I used:

14: resize 25%
17: resize 70%
18: resize 60%
27: resize 25%, then 85%
29: resize 10%
32: resize 50%

Drop shadow the elements, I used: H&V 2, Opacity 48, Blur 8.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 85%.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect, apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust size and placement of the masked layer to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag as desired.

Add your name, I used Aquarelle, size 80, Stroke 0, colour #a41818.  Create as a vector and place where you like.  Convert to raster layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Selections > Modify > Expand > expand 2.  Add a new raster layer and move below the name layer.  Flood fill with white.  Deselect.  Apply drop shadow to this layer: V 6, H 5, Opacity 21, Blur 8.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag.

If you'd like to show me your result, please email me HERE and I'll show it off in my slide show.

Hugs, Carol
