Bubble, Bubble

This tutorial was written by me on October 21st, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP, it's tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a wonderful, whimsical new kit by Stina of Designs by Stina called "Black Cat Magik".  This is such a wonderful kit!  Awesome papers and absolutely adorable elements, I had such fun with it!  Sooo many possibilities!  You can purchase it from Aussie Scrap Designs and it's even on sale until the end of the month!  Woot!

Template of choice: I used Halloween template #1 by Scrapity Scrap and More

Mask of choice: I used mask #2 by Dee.  Download from her blog HERE

Font of choice: I used Monsterchild, HERE

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP Masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the copyright and Squares layers.

Change the canvas size to 800 x 750.  Flood fill the blank areas of the background layer with white.

Activate the Big Rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer, resize 90%.  Invert the selection and tap delete, deselect.  Delete the original layer and apply a drop shadow, I used H&V 0, Opacity 75, Blur 10.

Follow the same steps for the Smaller Rectangle layer.  Before you deselect, open Kitty Pumpkin 01 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange inside the selection on the far right side.  Tap delete.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange on the far left side.  Merge these two layers and change the Blend Mode to Hard Light.  Reduce the opacity to 70.

Do the same for the Thin Rectangle layer, but do not deselect.  Open Spellbook Kitty and resize 15%, then 75%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection on the far left side.  Tap delete and deselect.  Duplicate and arrange in a line across the rectangle.  Once you have all your duplicates arranged, hide all other layers and merge visible.  Unhide the other layers; change the Blend Mode to Luminance (L) and the opacity to 40.  Drop shadow this layer, I used H&V 2, Opacity 75, Blur 8 (use this drop shadow for the remaining layers).  Do not drop shadow the paper layer.

Activate the Circle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Copy a paper of choice and paste into the selection, do not deselect.  Open Haunted House and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete, do not deselect.  Open Lightning 01 and 02, resize each 35%.  Copy and paste as new layers and arrange behind the house.  Tap delete on each layer and deselect.

Change your foreground to #412324 and your background to #787e20.  Change the foreground to Gradient and select "Foreground-Background" from the drop down menu.  Choose the linear Style, Angle 45, Repeats 3, Invert unchecked.

Activate the Border Thin Rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill the selection with your gradient.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Add noise: Uniform, 38%, Monochrome.

Follow the same steps for the Border Circle layer, but check the invert button for your gradient.

Change your foreground back to Color.  Change the background to #404040.  Activate the Color Replacer tool with these settings:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Tolerance: 34

Activate the Bubble layer.  Place the brush in the center of your tag and double click to change the colour of the font.  Do the same for the Toil layer and both Dotted Line layers.

Now add the rest of your elements, I used:

Cauldron Kitty: resize 50%
Ghost 01: resize 50%
Bow 02: resize 20%
Butterfly 04: resize 15%
Flower 04: resize 10%

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection, deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag and add your name.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Thanks for trying my tutorial.

I'd love to see your results, email me.
