Boo-Licious

This tutorial was written by me on October 26th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written with the assumption that you have a general knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an awesome FTU kit from last year, created by Puddicat Creations called "Vamp It Up".  Download from her blog HERE.  Please leave her some love before you leave as it's a small price for hard work freely shared.

Tube of choice: I used the gorgeous art of Camilla Drakenborg with a valid license.  You may purchase Camilla's tubes from Up Your Art.

Template of choice: I used one of Dee's fabulous Halloween templates, KDHal3 available on her blog HERE.

Mask of choice: I used one of Vix's awesome Halloween masks, #1, available on her blog HERE.

Drop shadows used:

For template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 75, Blur 10
For other elements: H&V 2, Opacity 75, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete Raster 1 and bat layers.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750, unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank areas with white.

Activate bottom orange circle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit, resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow.

Follow the above directions for the following layers:

top orange circle
black rectangle
purple rectangle
left black square (resize your paper smaller if you wish, I resized 70%)
right black square

Activate the frame bg layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open your tube and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.  Drop shadow.

Activate orange frame layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #731918.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Uniform, 20%, Monochrome checked.

Drop shadow the black frame.

Activate the arrows layer.  Change the foreground to #01651e and the background to #800080.  Activate the Color Replacer tool with the following settings:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Tolerance: 30

Center the brush over your workspace and left click.  Repeat for wordart and slats layers (increase the opacity to 100 on the slats layer first).

Add your elements, I used:

candles1: resize 55%
bats1: resize 60%
bats2: resize 40%
moon1: resize 60%
button1: resize 25%

Drop shadow all elements, then hide background layer and merge visible.  Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection and deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag, add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're done.  Thanks for trying my tutorial!

I'd love to see your results, email me!

Hugs, Carol
