Autumn Melody

This tutorial was written by me on October 30th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written with the assumption that you have a general knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful kit called Autumn Melody by Lysira's Graphic World.  You can purchase this lovely kit from Inspirations of Scrapfriends.

Tube of choice: I used the wonderful fantasy art of Maxine Gadd with a valid license.  You can purchase Maxine's tubes from PTE.

Template of choice: I used a great autumn template by Tracy at Freebie Friends Scraps and More.  Download HERE.

Mask of choice: I used mask #105 by Weescotslass.

Font of choice: I used Jellyka Delicious Cake, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout:

For template layers: H&V 0, Opacity 63, Blur 10
For elements & tube: H&V 2, Opacity 63, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the Tracy.F.Designz and corner layers.

Add a new raster layer, flood fill with white and send to the bottom.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.

Activate the circle layer, select all, float and defloat.

Open a paper of choice and resize 70 - 80%, invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Copy the main tube and paste as a new layer, arrange on the left side within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.  Change the blend mode to Soft Light.  Delete the original layer.

Activate the dotted circle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with # 4e1c1b.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Activate the square layer; select all, float and defloat.  Resize a paper of choice 70 - 80%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open the close up tube and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Using your eraser tool, remove the parts of the tube that are outside of the selection at the bottom and the sides.  Deselect.

Duplicate the tube and move the copy above the frame layer.  Activate the frame layer and use your magic wand to click inside the frame.  Invert selection.

Activate the tube copy and use the eraser to remove the bits that overlap the frame at the bottom and sides.  Deselect.  Drop shadow only the bottom (original) tube.

Activate the frame layer; select all, float and defloat.  Resize a paper of choice 70 - 80%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete, deselect.  Delete the original layer.

Now add your elements, I used:

FlowerBunch01: do not resize; mirror
NatureBow: resize 50%
BirdHouse: resize 70%
Acorn: resize 40%
AutumnFruit03: resize 60%; mirror
AutumnFruit02: resize 60%, mirror
DecoFlower: resize 50%

Drop shadow all elements.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

Thanks for trying my tutorial!  I'd love to see your results so I can show them off in my slide show.  Email me HERE

Hugs, Carol
