Sweet Vintage

This tutorial was written by me on June 26th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a wonderful FTU kit called "Deliciously Vintage" by Jolene from PTE.  Jo has very graciously given me permission to offer it for download on my blog.  Thanks so much Jo!!  Download this wonderful kit from 4shared HERE or from MediaFire HERE.

Tube of choice: I used the beautiful pinup art of Guy Powers.  You can purchase his tubes from Up Your Art, which should be opening the doors of its brand new store very soon!!  :-D

Template of choice: I used a wonderful template by Tracy, #63.  Download from her blog HERE.

Mask of choice: I used mask #44 by Weescotslass.

Font of choice: I used Aquarelle, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the Tracy F Designz layer.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Add a new raster layer and send to the bottom, flood fill with white.

Activate the square layer, select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #fdeaea.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Drop shadow.

Activate the rectangle layer, select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #cca89f.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Drop shadow.

Acrtivate the circle layer, select all, float and defloat.  Choose a paper from the kit, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Effects > Texture Effects > Weave with these settings:

Weave and Gap colour: #cca89f

Drop shadow.

Repeat the steps above (except for the Weave effect) for heart 1 and heart 2.  After adding the paper to the heart 2 layer, do not deselect.  Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and resize 120%.  Arrange within the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.  Change the blend mode to Overlay.

Add your elements, I used:

grapes: resize 65%
cork: resize 40%, mirror
wine bottle: resize 65%
glass of wine: resize 50%
tag: resize 65%
doodle: resize 70%; duplicate and flip

Apply drop shadow to all elements.  Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, move to the left side of your tag, drop shadow.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 90%.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Flood fill with #5d4143.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag, add your name using Aquarelle.  I used size 85, Stroke 0.  Background colour #4c021d, foreground null.  Float and defloat your name, expand by 2.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with white.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, 50%, Monochrome checked.  Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen.  Move this layer below your name, drop shadow the white layer only.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpeg or png.  Thanks for trying my tutorial!

I'd love to see your results so I can show them off!  Email me.  :-D

Hugs, Carol
