This tutorial was written by me on June 25th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.
Scrap kit of choice: I used an awesome kit by Tootypup Scraps called "Summer Lovin". What a lovely kit this is! You can get it at Aussie Scrap Designs, or visit Susan's blog for more information. Thanks so much Susan!
Tube of choice: I used the art of Joerg Warda with a valid license. He was with MPT when I purchased this tube but I haven't been able to find out where he's selling his tubes now. If anyone knows, would you email me with the info? Thanks!
Mask of choice: I used one of Bev's awesome masks, #30. Download from her blog HERE.
Font of choice: I used Summertime, HERE.
Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10.
~~ Remember to save often! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open a new image, 800 x 650, white background.
From the kit, open frame_1 and resize 60%. Copy and paste as a new layer.
Using the magic wand, click inside the frame. Expand the selection by 5 and invert.
Open beach-2 and resize 55%, copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame. Move up slightly and arrange within the selection. Tap delete, do not deselect.
Open sand-2 and resize 40%. Move below the beach scene and arrange at the bottom. Duplicate and mirror, arrange as desired (see my tag for reference.) Tap delete on each layer, do not deselect.
Open paper-4 and resize 50%. Copy and paste as a new layer above the background layer. Tap delete and deselect.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, move to the right side of the frame.
Add your elements, I used:
beachbag-3: resize 25%, then 85%
beachsign-2: resize 40%, then 85% twice
birdie-2: resize 10%, then 85% twice
flowers-4: resize 25%
flowers-1: resize 20%
palmtree-2: do not resize
palmtree-1: resize 70%, then 95%; duplicate and mirror, resize 85%
seagal-1: resize 30%, then 80%
Drop shadow all elements, then hide your background layer and merge visible. Resize the merged layer 90%. Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer. Select all. Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection and deselect. Apply the mask and merge the mask group.
Crop and resize your tag. Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information. Save as a jpeg or png and you're finished! Enjoy your tag!
I'd love to see your results, email me! :-)
