Let's Make Some Fireworks

This tutorial was written by me on June 27th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an awesome FTU kit called "Patriotic Pride" by Teresa of Scraps by Randy's Sin.  Download from her blog HERE.  Remember to leave some love, it's a small price for hard work freely shared.  Thanks so much Teresa!  :-)

Tube of choice: I used the sexy pinup art of Keith Garvey.  Keith was with MPT when I purchased this tube but you can now get his tubes at PTE.

Mask of choice: I used mask #41 by Weescotslass.

Plug-in needed: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow.

Font of choice: I used Shalimar Swash, a pay font.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 47, Blur 10.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open frame4 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open eagle1 and resize 60%, copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the frame.  Tap delete and deselect.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, move to the right side of the tag.

Open a word art of choice, I used wa9.  Copy and paste as a new layer and resize 60%.  Apply Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Basic tab: Glow Width 3.00, Soft Corners 25, Overall Opacity 100
Under the Color tab: select the Fat preset.

Click OK.

Add your elements, I used:

fireworks1: paste above the background layer, do not resize; duplicate and mirror
fireworks2: resize 70%
rocket6: resize 40%; free rotate 5 degrees left
rocket7: resize 40%; mirror; free rotate 10 degrees left
rocket2: resize 45%; free rotate 7 degrees left
bow2: resize 20%, mirror

Apply drop shadow to all elements, then hide your background layer and merge visible.  Resize merged layer 90%.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and apply the same gradient glow effect as above.  Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpeg and you're finished!

Thanks for trying my tutorial, I'd love to see your results.  Email me.  :-)

Hugs, Carol
