BOOM!

This tutorial was written by me on June 9th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tut is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an awesome kit by Gothic Inspirations called "Freedom Of Expression".  I'm not American, but I adore this patriotic kit!  Lots of beautiful papers and fun elements, perfect for celebrating the 4th of July!  You can get it at Stargazer Scraps.  Thanks so much Jess!

Tube of choice: I used the sexy art of Keith Garvey with a valid license.  If you wish to use the same tube, you can purchase it at PTE.

Mask of choice: I used one of Gem's masks, #166.  Download from her blog HERE.

Plug-in needed: DSB Flux ~ Bright Noise, HERE.

Animation Shop

Font of choice: I used Fragrance, a pay font.

Drop shadow used, unless otherwise noted: H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open the flag and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new image.

Open Fireworks3 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new image, rename Fireworks 2.  Apply a light drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 25, Blur 10.

Open Fireworks 1 & 2, resize each 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move one to the right side of the flag and the other to the left.  Merge these two layers together and move below the flag layer.  Rename Fireworks 1.  Apply drop shadow above.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.

Activate your background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust size to your satisfaction.

Add your elements, I used:

WordArt2: resize 70%
Hat: resize 15%
Rockets: resize 30%; free rotate 12 degrees right
Sparkler1 & 2: resize each 30%, merge two sparkler layers together and rename Sparklers

Duplicate the following layers twice, for a total of 3 each:  Fireworks 1, Fireworks 2 and Sparklers.  Hide all the copies from each layer, so only the original layer is open.

Activate Fireworks 1 and apply DSB Flux, Bright Noise with these settings: Intensity: 55, Mix button selected.  Apply with these same settings to Fireworks 2 and Sparklers.

Hide Fireworks 1 and open Copy of Fireworks 1.  Hide Fireworks 2 and open Copy of Fireworks 2.  Hide Sparklers and open Copy of Sparklers.  Apply DSB Flux to each of these open layers, clicking the Mix button twice each time.

Hide all the copies and open all the layers that say Copy (2).  Apply DSB Flux to each of these layers, clicking the Mix button three times for each layer.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Here's how you add the white highlight: select all, float and defloat your name.  Expand the selection by 2, add a new raster layer and flood fill with white.  Deselect and move this layer below your name.  Drop shadow the white highlight layer only.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Open Animation Shop

Right click on the workspace and choose "Paste As A New Animation".

Back to PSP, hide all Copy 2 layers and open all Copy layers.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In AS, right click on your tag and choose Paste > After Current Frame.

In PSP, close all Copy layers and open all original layers (Fireworks 1, Fireworks 2 and Sparklers).  Copy Merged.

In AS, right click on your tag and paste after current frame.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're finished!  Thanks for trying my tutorial!

I'd love to see your result, email me.  :-)

Hugs, Carol
