Paw-fect Friend

This tutorial was written by me on May 14th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an adorable kit called "Wags n Whiskers" by Stina of Designs by Stina.  If you're an animal lover like me, you'll adore this kit as much as I do!  Visit Stina's blog HERE to find out where you can get it.  Thanks so much Stina!

Tube & close-up of choice: I used the art of Anna Liwanag with a valid license.  If you wish to use the same tube, you may purchase it from PTE.

Mask of choice: I used mask #11 by Dee, HERE.

Plug-ins needed: Xenofex 2, Little Fluffy Clouds (demo available HERE) and Eye Candy Impact, Gradient Glow (demo available HERE).

Font of choice: I used A&S Jiggy Roman, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Frame01 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice, resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move beneath the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open Kennel and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and position within the frame (see my tag for placement).  Tap delete, do not deselect.

Copy and paste your close-up tube as a new layer.  Mirror and resize 70%.  Position inside the frame, on the far left side.  Tap delete and deselect.

Hide the tube for now.  Using the freehand selection tool, draw a selection around the top two thirds of the frame, like this:

Add a new raster layer above the paper layer.  Apply Xenofex 2, Little Fluffy Clouds.  Click Settings and select In The Clouds.  Leave all other settings as is and click OK.  Unhide the tube.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and move to the far right side of the frame.

Add some fun elements, I used:

Tree01: resize 40%; duplicate and mirror; resize 70%
Dog_Lab: resize 25%, then 70%
Bowl: resize 60%
Ball: resize 30%
WordArt05: resize 20%
WordArt01: resize 60%
Puppy01: resize 12%

Apply all your drop shadows, then hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect and apply the mask.  Merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and apply the gradient glow effect using these settings:

Apply drop shadow to your name.  Add all applicable copyright and license information, save as a jpeg or png.  You're finished, thanks for trying my tutorial!

I'd love to see your results, email me!

Hugs, Carol
