Oriental Delight

This tutorial was written by me on April 11th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a breathtaking kit by Tootypup Scraps called "Cherry Blossoms".  Please visit Susan's blog HERE for store links.  Thanks so much for this beautiful kit Susan!!

Tube & close-up of choice: I used the beautiful artwork of Aurelie Corre with a valid license.  If you would like to use the same tube, you must purchase it from MPT.

Template of choice: I used template #62 by Scrap Rebellion.

Mask of choice: I used mask #33 by Weescotslass.

Font of choice: I used Seven Monkey Fury, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 45, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the info layer; change the canvas size to 750 x 750; unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate the small circle layer.  Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.  Open a paper of choice and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, place as desired, invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.  Delete the original layer.

Follow these directions for the other small circle layer as well as the two rectangle and gradient circle layers.

Change the foreground colour to #4b1c71 and the background to white.  Activate the circle1 layer.  Activate the color replacer tool with these settings: Size: 999, Hardness: 100, Step: 10, Density: 100, Thickness: 100, Rotation: 0, Tolerance: 75.  Left click in the center of your canvas.  Follow these directions for the rectangle frames, 3 lines, dotted circle and noise circle.  Do not change the circular frames.

Activate the large center circle, select all, float and defloat.  Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer.  Invert the selection and use the eraser to remove the part of the tube that overlaps the frame.  Deselect.

Activate the top circle frame.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Copy and paste the close-up tube as a new layer, mirror and move beneath the frame.  Resize 90% and arrange as you like.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect.  The tube is already set at 50% opacity, I did not change this.

Now add your elements.  I used:

Fan-7: resize 35%
CherryBlossomTree-1: mirror, resize 75%
CherryBlossom16: mirror, resize 35%
CherryBlossomTree-6: mirror, resize 80%
Butterfly 2 & 8: resize 10%

Apply drop shadows, make sure everything is placed to your satisfaction.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust size.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpeg or png and you're finished!  Thanks for trying my tutorial!

I'd love to see your results so I can add them to my slide show, email me!

Hugs, Carol
