Moonwalk (PTU, Scrap Only)

(Click tag to see full-size image)

Moonwalk

This tutorial was written by me on March 14th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an awesome collab kit called "First Walk In Space".  This kit has papers and elements by five wonderful designers, sooo much to choose from!  The part I used was created by Kathy May of Designed by K.  This awesome collab kit is available at I Got Lucky Skraps until March 31st.

Mask of choice: I used one of Vix's awesome masks, #11.  Download from her blog HERE.  Scroll down, it's almost right at the bottom of the page.  :-)

Plug-in needed: Eye Candy Nature; Fire.

Font of choice: I used Starry Night, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout, unless otherwise noted: H&V 2, Opacity 75, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

Add a new raster layer, select all, open dbk...paper8 from the kit.  Copy and paste into the selection.  Deselect.

Using the rectangle selection tool, draw out a selection covering the bottom quarter of the workspace.  Add a new raster layer, copy and paste dbk...paper10 into the selection.

Effects > Texture Effects > Texture > choose Small Stones from the drop-down menu, and apply using these settings:

Apply a drop shadow, V -2, H 0, Opacity 75, Blur 8.

Merge this layer down.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Add the elements, I used:

rocket: resize 10%, then 85%
stars: resize 10%, then 70%
onesmallstep: resize 25%
earth: resize 10%, then 70%
planet: resize 10%, then 70%
ufo: resize 15%
alien: resize 15%, then 85%
flag: resize 15%, then 90%
astronaut: resize 20%, then 90%.  Use the freehand selection tool to draw a selection around his faceplate, then add a new raster layer, copy and paste moonwalk1 into the selection.  Reduce the opacity by 75%.

Resize your tag 85%, make sure "resize all layers" is checked.

Add your name and watermark.  If you don't want to animate, save as a jpeg or png.  If you want to animate, let's continue!

Duplicate the rocket twice for a total of three.  Rename them Rocket 1, Rocket 2 and Rocket 3.  Hide Rocket 2 and 3 and activate Rocket 1.  Zoom in and draw a selection around the exhaust with the freehand selection tool, like this:

Effects > Plugins > Eye Candy Nature > Fire.  Under the Settings tab, choose Small, Lift Off.  Change the settings under the Basics tab to this:

Hide Rocket 1, open and activate Rocket 2.  Apply the Fire plug-in using the same settings, but click the Random Seed button once.  Repeat for Rocket 3.  Deselect.

Open Rocket 1, make sure the other two rocket layers are hidden.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Open Animation Shop.

Right click on the workspace and choose Paste As A New Animation.

Back in PSP, hide Rocket 1 and open Rocket 2.  Copy merged.

In AS, Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.

Repeat for Rocket 3.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!  Save as a gif and you're done!

Thanks for trying my tutorial!  I'd love to see your results and show them off in my slide show, email me!

Hugs, Carol
