Lovebugs

This tutorial was written by me on February 1st, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an adorable new kit by Clarey called Love Bugs.  What a wonderful kit this is!!  My biggest problem was trying to decide which of the elements to leave out, LOL!  Clarey has included some beautiful papers and as I mentioned, the elements are fabulous!!  Please visit her store HERE to get this awesome kit.  Thanks so much Clarey!

Tube of choice: I used the amazing art of Suzanne Woolcott, AKA Gorjuss.  If you'd like to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from her store HERE.

Mask of choice: I used one of Bev's wonderful masks, #27.  Download from her blog HERE.  Thanks for sharing these great masks Bev!

Font of choice: I used Curly Coryphaeus

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open doubleframe and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside each of the frames and expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice, resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and move this layer beneath the frame layer.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and move to the left side of the frame.

Open balloon1, copy and paste as a new layer.  Move to the right side of the frame.

Open balloon2, resize 85%, copy and paste as a new layer, move in front of balloon1 (see my tag for placement).

Open balloon4, resize 85% twice, copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as seen in my tag.

Open bow4, resize 60%, copy and paste as a new layer and arrange on top of the balloon strings.

Open branch2, resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Arrange within the balloons to your satisfaction.

Add your other elements:

halftoneheart2: copy and paste as a new layer above your background layer.
halftoneheart4: copy and paste as a new layer above the first heart.  Move slightly to the right. Apply drop shadow to this layer only.
butterfly: resize 50%
caterpillar: resize 40%
flower 1 & 2: resize 40%
dragonfly: resize 35%
snail: resize 35%
ladybird: resize 30%
peggedwords: do not resize

Apply drop shadow to all elements, your tube and the frame.  Make sure you're happy with the placement of everything, then hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize 90%.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask size and placement to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpg or png and you're finished.  I hope you enjoy your new tag!

I'd love to see your results, email me!

Hugs, Carol
