Chocolate Valentine (PTU)

(Click tag to see full-size version)

Chocolate Valentine

This tutorial was written by me on February 4th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: As promised, this is the second tutorial using Chocolate Valentine by Monti's Scraps.  I love this kit and couldn't resist creating another tag with it.  You can get it at I Got Lucky Skraps.  Thanks again for this amazing kit Monti!

Tube of choice: I used the awesome pinup art of Keith Garvey.  If you wish to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from MPT.

Template of choice: I used one of Bev's awesome templates, #130, available on her blog HERE.  Thanks Bev!

Mask of choice: I used mask #17 by Sophisticat Simone, download from her blog HERE (second set of masks).

Font of choice: I used Fiolex Girls.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often!! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template, duplicate and close the original.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Delete the following layers: Credit, Right Heart Line, Left Heart Line.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Raster 1.  Select all, float, defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit, resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Follow these steps for all the remaining layers except the Diamond Circle layers.  For Diamond Circle Left, Right and Center, change your foreground to #a73f3f and your background to black.  Activate your Color Replacer tool and change the settings to: Size: 999, Hardness: 100, Step: 10, Density: 100, Thickness: 100, Rotation: 0 and Tolerance: 75.  Making sure one of the Diamond Circle layers is the active layer, left click in the center of your tag.  For the Diamond Circle Ring, change the background colour to white.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.  If you're using the same tube I did, resize 85%.

Add your elements, I used:

Flower-Double1: resize 30%, then 85%
Heart 16: resize 7% and sharpen.  Duplicate four times and arrange in a vertical line in front of the left rectangle.  Merge these five layers visible then duplicate and mirror.
HeartTrail-PinkBrown: resize 50%, duplicate and mirror.
HeartCurtainPink: resize 50%, duplicate and mirror.  Place at the top of the large rectangle.
Ribbon-Pink: resize 50% and use the raster deform tool to further adjust the size.
Rose-Red: resize 30%
Rose-Pink: resize 30%, then 85% and mirror.
Rose-Brown: resize 30%, then 85%.  Free rotate left 7 degrees.  Merge the three rose layers together, duplicate and mirror.  Arrange as shown on my tag.

Drop shadow all layers.  Make sure you're happy with the positioning of all your elements, then hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.

Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the size and position.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpg or png and you're all finished!  I hope you enjoy your new tag!

I'd love to see your results, email me!

Hugs, Carol
