Bear Hugs (PTU)

(Click tag to see full-size version)

Bear Hugs

This tutorial was written by me on February 4th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: X2, but should work with other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an incredible kit by Monti of Monti's Scraps called Chocolate Valentine.  I LOVE this kit, it's HUGE!!  There are so many wonderful elements and beautiful papers I had to make two tags just to scratch the surface, LOL!  I wrote a tut for the second tag as well, it will be following this one.  Thanks so much for this amazing kit Monti!  You can get it at I Got Lucky Skraps.  :-)

Mask of choice: I used mask 89 by Vaybs.  Download from her blog HERE.

Font of choice: I used 2Peas Drama Queen.

No tubes or plug-ins were used for this tag, it's composed entirely of elements from the kit.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 62, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open FrameMulti-Red and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move a bit to the left.

Using the Freehand Selection tool, draw a selection around the frame, like this:

Open a paper of choice, resize 80%, copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open a bear of choice, resize 75%, copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within one of the frames.  Tap delete.  Parts of the tube will overlap some of the other frames, use your eraser tool to remove them after you add all the bears.  Continue adding a new bear until all five frames are filled.  Deselect.

Open Bear5 (or one of your choice) and resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer and move to the right side of the frame.

Add your other elements, I used:

BearHugs: resize 50%
Butterfly 3 & 4: resize 30%
HeartCharm-BlueRed: resize 40%
HeartDouble7: resize 35%
FlowerBow18: resize 25%
Heart-Stitched 18: resize 35%; free rotate right 10 degrees
Heart-Stitched 7: resize 35%, then 85%
HeartPin1-Blue: resize 25%, sharpen
HeartString-Pink: resize 70%; duplicate and mirror, erase anything you don't want showing

Make sure you're happy with the placement of all layers and apply drop shadow.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.

Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the side and position to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag and add your name.  Save as a jpg or png and you're all finished!  Thanks for trying my tutorial!

I'd love to see your results, email me!

Hugs, Carol
