Show Him ...
This tutorial was written by me on January 4th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.
Scrap kit of choice: I used a wonderful kit by Conchi of DNScraps called "Dark Gothic Love". What a lot of fun I had with this kit! Lots of gorgeous elements, beautiful papers and I LOVE the colour palette! I've always loved the drama and passion of black and red tags. You can get this awesome kit at Butterfly Blush.
Tube of choice: I used the wonderful pinup art of Ismael Rac. If you'd like to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from his store HERE
Template of choice: I used one of Missy's great templates, #382. Download from her blog HERE.
Mask of choice: I used #33 by Weescotslass. Download from her blog HERE.
Plug-ins needed: Xero Radiance and Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow.
Font of choice: I used Velvenda Megablack
~~ Let's begin! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.
Delete the by missy layer, unhide the background layer. Change the canvas size to 750 x 625. Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank spots with white.
Activate the Raster 2 layer. Select All > Float > Defloat. Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer, resize as desired. I resized 80%. Invert the selection and tap delete. Delete the original Raster 2 layer. Apply a drop shadow, I used H&V 0, Opacity 75, Blur 10.
Continue in this manner for the remaining layers, except for the circle back layer and the top 7 layers (the word art components and above). For the circle back layer: Select All > Float > Defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #af0410. Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > choose Random, 25% and Monochrome checked.
Activate the wordart layer. Using the eyedropper tool, right click on the pink colour to set it as your background colour. Change the foreground colour to #af0410. Using the Colour Replacer tool with the Size set to 999, Hardness, Density and Thickness set to 100, Step 10, Rotation 0 and Tolerance set to 75, left click in the middle of the canvas to change the colour of the pink letters to red. Resize this layer 65%. You must also resize the wordart back and Raster 3 shadow layers as well. Move to the left, see my tag for placement. The three wordart layers are linked together so they will all move at the same time.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, leave in the center of the tag. Apply a drop shadow of choice.
Delete the Raster 1 layer and activate the frame layer. Using the magic wand, click inside the right frame. Expand the selection by 5. Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer, resize as desired. Invert the selection and tap delete, move below the frame. Do not deselect.
Duplicate your tube, resize 120%. Move below the frame layer and arrange as desired. Tap delete and deselect. Apply Xero Radiance with these settings:
Follow these steps for the far left frame, duplicate the tube and mirror. Add paper only to the center frame.
Use the Colour Replacer tool to change the white frame to #af0410 (follow the instructions above, changing the background colour to white). Use this tool for the dotted line layer as well. Add noise to the frame, using the same settings as above.
Add your elements. I used:
jewelsflowers3: Resize 50%, duplicate 3 times. Move beneath the circle back layer and arrange.
jewelsflowers4: Use the freehand selection tool to draw around the large red flower. Copy and paste as a new layer, resize 30%, then 85%. Sharpen, duplicate 3 times.
jewelsflowers4: Using the freehand selection tool again, draw around the black flower. Copy and paste as a new layer and resize 35%. Sharpen, duplicate once.
button2: Resize 10%, sharpen.
metallove: Resize 20%, duplicate
butterfly: Resize 30%, free rotate left 15 degrees. Sharpen.
Add your name and apply Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow using these settings:
Now add all applicable copyright and license information, crop and resize your tag. Save as a png or jpg and you're all done! I hope you enjoy your new tag!
