One Of A Kind
This tutorial was written by me on January 9th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial assumes you have a good knowledge of PSP.
Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit by Designs By Stina called "Lil Miss May-hem". Wow, did I ever enjoy working with this kit! It's loaded with bold, bright colours and gorgeous elements, absolutely beautiful! Please visit Stina's blog, Cullenary Delights for store links. Thanks for this wonderful kit hun!
Tube & close-up of choice: I used the awesome art of Robert Alvarado. If you'd like to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from MPT.
Template of choice: I used one of Missy's wonderful templates, #281. Download from her blog HERE.
Plug-ins needed: Xero SoftMood; Eye Candy Impact - Gradient Glow & Perspective Shadow
Mask of choice: I used Mask 82 from Designs by Vaybs
~~ Let's make a new tag! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.
Delete the by missy layer, change the canvas size to 750 x 650. Unhide and activate the background layer, then flood fill the blank areas with white.
Activate the oval layer, select all, float, defloat. Open a paper of choice, resize 80%, copy and paste as a new layer. Invert the selection and tap delete. Delete the original oval layer. Do not deselect.
Copy and paste your close-up tube and arrange as shown in my tag. Tap delete to remove the excess. Apply Xero SoftMood using these settings:
Reduce the opacity to 70%.
Activate the circle layer, select all, float, defloat. Open a paper of choice and resize 70%. Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete. Delete the original circle layer. Do not deselect.
Open your main tube, copy and paste as a new layer. Arrange within the circle and use your eraser to remove the excess at the bottom. Deselect.
Activate the shape layer and flood fill with #671e80. Duplicate and mirror, arrange on the right side of the circle. Move both of these layers below the tube.
Activate the wordart by missy layer. Change the foreground colour to #671e80 and the background to #ff45a1. Select the color replacer tool with these settings: Size: 999, Hardness: 100, Step: 10, Density: 100, Thickness: 100, Rotation: 0, Tolerance 75. Left click in the center of the tag to change the pink letters and highlight to purple.
Do the same for Star 1 and Star 2 layers. Add a noise effect to the stars: Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Random, 32%, Monochrome checked.
Activate the glittered oval layer. Select all, float, defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #671e80. Deselect. Add the same noise effect as above. Delete the original layer.
Now add your elements. I used:
Glitter Spill 3: resize 90%
Diamond Element 2: resize 25%, then 70%
Heart Charm 2: resize 40%, then 80%
Rose 5: resize 20%
Rose 6: resize 20%, then 85%
Butterflies: resize 15%, free rotate one of them 12 degrees right if desired.
Add drop shadow of choice: I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8 for all elements and H&V 0, Opacity 55 and Blur 12 for template components. I used Eye Candy Impact, Perspective Shadow for my main tube. If you have this filter and would like to use it for the drop shadow, here are the settings I used:
Make sure you're happy with the placement of everything, then hide your background layer and merge visible.
Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer. Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection. Deselect. Apply the mask and merge the mask group.
Add your name and apply Eye Candy Impact, Gradient Glow using these settings:
Colour is #671e80. Add a drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 5.
Crop and resize your tag, then add all applicable copyright and license information. Save as a png or jpg and you're finished! Enjoy your colourful new tag!
I hope you'll show me your results, email me!
