It's Snow Wonderful

This tutorial was written by me on January 1st, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: X2, but should work with other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I'm using a stunning kit called "Snow Is Falling" by Diane of Candy's Treats.  Just like all of Diane's kits, this one is absolutely breathtaking!  I LOVE the colour palette, it's so elegant, and Diane always includes so many wonderful elements and papers it's impossible to use them all in just one or two tags.  It's perfect for all your winter projects!  You can get it at Stargazer Scraps.  Thanks for this gorgeous kit Diane!

Tube of choice: I'm using the wonderful art of Unholy Vault Designs with a valid license.  If you wish to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from MPT.

Mask of choice: I'm using one of Vix's awesome masks, #435.  You can get it HERE.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow (optional, used on name only).

Font of choice: I used Beautiful and Beautiful Caps ES

~~ Let's begin! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Frame2 and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 5.

Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer and resize as desired.  I resized 60%.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.  Duplicate and move the copy below the frame.  Using your eraser, carefully remove the parts of the tube you don't want to show.  Do this on both the original and copy layers.  Add a drop shadow of choice to the bottom tube only.  I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 12.  Apply this drop shadow to the frame as well.

Copy and paste SnowSwirlFrame1 as a new layer above the background layer.  Arrange as desired so it shows around the edges of your main frame.  Apply a light drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 25, Blur 8

Add your elements, applying drop shadow as you go.  I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8.

WinterCluster2: do not resize
Flowerblue3: resize 30%
Snowflower2: resize 40%; duplicate and mirror
Element1: resize 70%, then 80%; duplicate and mirror
Icicles1: do not resize, place above the paper layer and use your eraser to remove the excess
Leaves: resize 25%
SnowCircleShadow: resize 75%.

Make sure you're happy with the placement of all elements, then hide your background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Flood fill this layer with #778aa2.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Now add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Crop and resize your tag, then save as a jpg or png.  You're all finished!

Thanks for trying my tut and I'd love to see your results!

Hugs, Carol
