Santa's Favourite Elf
This tutorial was written by me on December 10th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.
Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous Christmas kit by Puddicat Creations called "Christmas Cards". Wow, I really love this kit, there's so many goodies included!! I just scratched the surface with this tut and can think of so many other tags I could make with it. You can get it at Aussie Scraps Designs. Thanks so much for this wonderful kit Cindy!
Tube of choice: I used the sexy pinup art of Ismael Rac with a valid license. If you wish to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from his store HERE.
Plug-in used: Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow (optional, used on name only).
Mask of choice: I used Mask 198 by Gems. Download from her blog HERE.
Font of choice: I used Miss Stanfort.
~~ Let's begin! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.
From the kit, copy and paste Frame2 and resize 70%, then 95%. Move to the left slightly.
Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 6.
Open a paper of choice (I used paper1), resize 50%. Copy and paste as a new layer and position where desired within the selection. Invert the selection and tap delete. Move this layer below the frame layer. Do not deselect.
Open christmastree1 and resize 55%. Copy and paste as a new layer under the frame layer. Position as desired and tap delete. Deselect. Apply a drop shadow of choice to the tree and the frame, I used H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 8.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, position on the right side of the frame. Drop shadow.
Add your elements and apply drop shadow as you go:
holly1: resize 20%
ornament1: resize 40%; mirror and free rotate 8 degrees left. Sharpen.
ornament2: resize 45%
stocking2: resize 40%
deer1: resize 40%
all presents: resize 35%
Make sure you're happy with the placement of all elements, then hide your background layer and merge visible. Resize the merged layer 85%.
Open the background layer and activate. Add a new raster layer and select all. Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection. Deselect. Apply the mask and merge the mask group. Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask to your satisfaction.
Add your name and apply the gradient glow if using. Add all applicable copyright and license information, save as a jpg or png and you're finished! Enjoy your new tag!
