This tutorial was written by me on December 3rd, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.
Scrap kit of choice: I'm using a breathtaking kit by Gemini Creationz called "Holiday Shimmer". This kit is just drop-dead gorgeous!! There are so many wonderful elements I couldn't possibly use them all in one tag. The rich purple and sparkling silver palette is so beautiful and a lovely alternative to the traditional red and green. You can get it from Stargazer Scraps. Thanks so much for this beautiful kit Vicki!
Tube of choice: I'm using a wonderful tube by Jamie Kidd. You can purchase her tubes from CILM until December 31st.
Mask of choice: I'm using another one of Vaybs awesome Christmas masks, #5. Download from her blog HERE.
Font of choice: I used Aquarelle
Let's make a new tag!
Put the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.
From the kit, open frame03. Copy and paste as a new layer.
Using the magic wand, click inside the frame and expand the selection by 4.
Open a paper of choice, copy and paste as a new layer. Resize as desired, invert the selection and tap delete. Deselect. Move this layer below the frame layer.
Use the magic wand to click inside the frame again but this time, do not expand the selection. Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and arrange within the frame. Duplicate and move the copy above the frame. Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize > Hue: 199, Saturation: 17. Invert the selection and working on the copy, use the eraser to remove the bottom part of the tube that overhangs the frame. Deselect. Apply a drop shadow of choice to the tube and the frame.
Add your elements:
gift: resize 65%
pinebranch: resize 50%, then 80%
bird: resize 40%
sleigh: resize 50% and mirror
ornaments: resize approx. 20% (will depend on what ornaments you choose)
poinsettia: resize 30%
Drop shadow all elements. Make sure you're happy with the placement of everything then hide the background layer and merge visible. Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer above it. Select all. Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection. Apply the mask and merge the mask group.
Crop and resize your tag, add your name and all applicable copyright and license info. Save and you're done! I hope you enjoy your new tag!
