Cherry Bomb 2

This tutorial was written by me on November 25th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

This is my second tutorial using "Cherry Bomb", which is a wonderful kit by Tammy of Tammy's Scraps.  Visit her blog HERE for purchase info.

Tube of choice: Once again, I'm using the gorgeous pinup art of Jessica Dougherty.  If you wish to use the same tube, you must purchase a license from CILM (until December 31st).

Mask of choice: I used Mask 226 by Weescotslass, download from her blog HERE.

Font of choice: I used Aquarelle.

Let's begin!

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Doodle 2 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Free rotate right 16 degrees.  Sharpen.  Duplicate and mirror.  Merge this layer down and duplicate again.  Flip.  You should now have something that looks like this:

Open Frame 2, copy and paste as a new layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame (don't forget the bit at the bottom!).  Expand the selection by 4 and invert.  Resize a paper of choice by 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Move below the frame and tap delete.  Deselect.  Apply a drop shadow of choice to the frame.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer, resize as desired and duplicate.  Move the copy above the frame.  Use your eraser to remove the bits that overlap the frame.  Activate the tube below the frame and carefully remove the bit that shows below the frame.  Drop shadow the bottom tube only.

Open Rose 1, copy and paste as a new layer and mirror.  Resize 50% and place on the left side of the frame.  Using the eraser or freehand selection tool, remove the outermost leaf, see my tag for reference.  Duplicate the rose and resize 80%.  Use the raster deform tool to change the angle so the rose follows the curve of the frame better.  Sharpen.  Duplicate and repeat.  Drop shadow each rose layer.

Add your other elements:

Feather Heart 1: resize 35%
Feather Heart 2: resize 35%, then 85%; free rotate right 20 degrees
Interlace Hearts: resize 90%
Butterfly of your choice: resize 25%

Apply a drop shadow of choice to all elements.

Make sure you're happy with the placement of everything, then hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license info.  Now save your tag and you're done!

Thanks for trying my tutorial!

Hugs, Carol
