Bad Santa

This tutorial was written by me on November 28th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I'm using another AMAZING kit by Diane of Candy's Treats.  Her kits always contain so many wonderful elements, frames, papers, etc. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I get a new one.  This one contains a wonderful dark spin on the traditional Christmas elements and is glitzy and elegant.  Thanks so much for this wonderful kit Diane!  It's available at Stargazer Scraps.

Tube & Close-up of choice: I'm using the gorgeous pinup art of Robert Alvarado with a valid license.  This tube was part of my 2010 Christmas gift from MPT

Mask of choice: I used one of Vaybs awesome masks, #89.  Download from her blog HERE.

Plug-in used: Xero Emphasis, available HERE.

Font of choice: I used Christmas on Crack

Let's make a new tag!

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

From the kit, open Frame3, resize 90%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Open Frame 4, resize 90%, then 95%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Open Frame 2, resize 90% twice, copy and paste as a new layer.  You should now have something that looks like this:

Merge these three layers together.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Expand the selection by 4.  Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer, resize as desired.  Invert the selection and tap delete, move this layer below the frame.  Do not deselect.

Copy and paste the close-up of your tube as a new layer.  Resize as desired (I resized 85%), position within the frame and tap delete.  Deselect.

Apply Xero, Emphasis to the tube using these settings:

Apply a drop shadow of choice to the tube and the frame.

Add the elements:

BahHumbugCHARMSshadow: resize 80%
Baubles: resize 70%
DiamondLine: resize 80%
smallbutterfly: resize 30%, free rotate right 25 degrees; sharpen
Sprig: resize 50%, free rotate right 90%, mirror; sharpen
Fir (Red & Black): resize 50%
Flowers: resize 25%
Cone: resize 40%, free rotate left 35 degrees; sharpen
RedRibbon1: do not resize
SnowyLeavesRed: resize 50%
bowRed: resize 35%, free rotate left 20 degrees; sharpen
Cluster: resize 50%, free rotate left 35 degrees; sharpen

Apply a drop shadow of choice to all elements: I used H&V 2, Opacity 57, Blur 7

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer, move to the right side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Make sure you're happy with the placement of everything, then hide your background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Resize by 90%, or use the raster deform tool to resize to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save your tag and you're all finished!

Thanks for trying my tutorial!

Hugs, Carol
