Save A Broom, Ride A Witch

This tutorial was written by me on October 9th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I'm using one of Clarey's wonderful new kits, called "Ghost Town".  This is such a wonderful kit, full of beautiful papers and whimsical, colourful elements.  It's just awesome, thanks so much Clarey!  You can get it from her store, Clarey's Designz.

Tube of choice: I'm using the awesome art of Dominic Marco with a valid license.  You can purchase his wonderful tubes from CILM.

Template of choice: I used one of the awesome Halloween templates from Scrapity Scrap and More.

Mask of choice: I used one of Gem's wonderful masks, #189, available on her blog HERE.

Font of choice: I used Trinigan FG

Plug-in used: Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow (used on name only).

Ready?  Let's make a new tag!

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete Raster 11 and Copy of Vector 2.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 650.  Activate Raster 1 and use the flood fill tool to fill the blank areas with white.

Activate Raster 2; select all, float, defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit, copy and paste as a new layer.  Resize as desired (I resized 80%), invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Continue in this manner for the remaining layers except for Raster 8, Copy of Vector 8 and Raster 9.  Flood fill these selections with black, or a colour that compliments your tube.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.  Place as shown in my example.  Add a drop shadow of choice.

Add your elements:

Bat: Resize 20%, free rotate 20 degrees left.  Duplicate and mirror, duplicate again and resize 85%.  Place as shown.
Button5: Resize 30%
Candle: Resize 30%
Cat: Resize 30%
Cauldron: Resize 50%, mirror
Greenbubbles: Resize 50%, arrange over the cauldron and erase the excess
Magic Wand: Resize 40%, mirror
Plainpumpkin1: Resize 60%
Pumpkin2: Resize 50%
Pumpkin3: Resize 60%
Roundframe1: Place above large circle layer
Smoke1: Place above background layer, erase any excess at the bottom.  Duplicate and mirror

Apply drop shadow to all layers.  For the tag elements I used: H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 8 and for the template layers I used H&V 0, Opacity 65 and Blur 12.50.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask to your satisfaction.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license info.  Resize as desired and save your tag.

Thanks for trying my tutorial, I'd love to see your result!

Hugs, Carol
