Pretty Poison

This tutorial was written by me on October 12th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I'm using an awesome kit by Krissy of Crimson Butterfly Scrapz called "Love's Poisonous Kiss".  Lots of awesome gothic elements and wicked papers in this one!  You can get it at Lollipops and Gumdrops.  Thanks so much for letting me use this great kit!

Tube of choice: I'm using the wonderful art of Cristina McAllister with a valid license.  You can purchase her tubes from CILM.

Mask of choice: I used one of Gem's awesome masks, #192.  Download from her blog HERE.

Font of choice: I used Creature

Plug-in needed: Xero; Serious Fog

Ready ... set ... GO!  ;-)

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 650, white background.

From the kit, open cbsframe2, resize 75%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Using the magic wand, click inside the frame (make sure you add the little bit between the swirl and the frame on the right side).  Open a paper of choice, resize as desired (I resized 70%), copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Move the paper below the frame.  Do not deselect.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer beneath the frame.  Resize as desired (I resized 150%) and arrange within the frame.  Tap delete to remove the excess.  Do not deselect.

Effects > Xero > Serious Fog.  Choose Highlights from the drop down menu and apply the effect using the default settings.  Deselect.

Paste your tube as a new layer (it should still be on the clipboard) and move to the left side of the frame.

Add your elements:

cbsbfly1: Resize 15%, free rotate right 22 degrees.  Sharpen.  Duplicate and resize as many times as desired.  Scatter around the tag
cbsbttle: Resize 30%
cbscandles: Resize 70%
cbsdagger1: Resize 35%, mirror, free rotate 15 degrees right, sharpen
cbsflwrcluster2: Resize 40%
cbsskll2: Resize 35%
cbsspellbk: Resize 35%
cbstree: Resize 60%

Add a drop shadow of choice to your elements, tube and frame.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.

Apply the mask and merge the mask layers.  Add your name and all copyright and license info.  Resize and save your tag.  All done!

Thanks for trying my tut!

Hugs, Carol
