Dark Desire

This tutorial was written by me on October 26th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP Version used: PSP X2 but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I'm using a wonderful kit by Tonya of Broken Sky Dezine called "Dark Desire".  I loved this kit, it has so many wonderful elements and is perfect for your darker or more gothic type tags.  Thanks so much for letting me use it Tonya!  You can purchase this terrific kit at I Got Lucky Skraps.

Template of choice: I'm using template 30 by Sixxbug Creationz.

Mask of choice: I used Gem's mask 192, download HERE.

Plug-in needed: MuRa's Meister Copies

Font of choice: I used Halloween Mirage

Let's get started!

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the info and bars layer, flood fill Raster 1 with white.

Activate the circle layer, select all, float, defloat.  Copy and paste a paper of choice from the kit, resize if desired (I resized 70%).  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect!  Change the blend mode of your new paper layer to Color.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer.  Resize if desired, I resized 85%.  Use your eraser tool to get rid of the parts of the tube that overhang the circle at the bottom.  Deselect.

Copy and paste BSD_rose2 as a new layer, resize 20%.  Apply Mura Meister Copies filter using these settings:
Duplicate this layer, arrange one layer above the tube and one below.  Use the eraser tool to remove the part of this floral frame that covers her face and right shoulder.  Apply a drop shadow to the bottom layer only.  I used H&V 2, Opacity 69, Blur 7.  Drop shadow your tube as well.

Activate the Brushes layer, select all, float, defloat.  Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Delete the original brushes layer.  Drop shadow.

Apply drop shadow to the bats brushes layer and move it up a bit.

Add your elements:

BSD_bottle1: Resize 50%
BSD_candle2: Resize 15%
BSD_candle4: Resize 50%
BSD_cball: Resize 35%
BSD_deadrose1: Resize 70%, free rotate 20 degrees right
BSD_glidder1: Resize 105%
BSD_wordart5: Do not resize

Apply a drop shadow to all your elements.  Make sure you're happy with the placement of everything, then hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer above it.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection and apply the mask.  Merge the mask group.

Resize your tag if desired, then add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

Thanks for trying my tutorial!

Hugs, Carol
