Summer Lovin'

This tutorial was written by me on August 19th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful kit by Holy Scrap O'la called April Showers.  You can find it at Scrapper's Secret.

2 tubes of choice (ideally a main tube and a close-up): I used the gorgeous pinup art of Jamie Kidd with a valid license.  You can purchase Jamie's tubes from CILM.

Template of choice: I used template 2 from Scrapity Scrap and More.

Mask of choice: I used one of Gem's awesome masks, #172.  Download from her blog HERE.  Thanks for sharing these wonderful masks Gem!

Font of choice: I used SexyRexy

Plug-in used: Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow (optional, used for name only).

~~~~~ Let's make a new tag! ~~~~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open the template, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the Raster 9 layer.  Increase the canvas size to 650 x 650.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.
Highlight Raster 8, select all, float, defloat.  Copy and paste a paper of choice from the kit, resize if desired, I resized 70%.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.
Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer above the paper layer.  Using your eraser tool, remove the part of the tube that shows beneath the frame.  Deselect.  Duplicate the tube and move the duplicate above the frame.  Use the eraser to remove the bit that overlaps the frame.  Drop shadow original tube layer only, using these settings: V -3, H 4, Opacity 50, Blur 12.
Drop shadow the frame: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12 (use these settings for all the frames)
Follow the instructions given for Raster 8 for Rasters 4, 5, 6 and 7.  Instead of using a paper, copy and paste your close-up tube and arrange as desired within the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete to remove the excess.
Add your elements:
Flower 2 & 3: Resize 20% initially, then duplicate, resize and arrange as desired.
Button 8: Resize 20%, place on top of one of the flowers and arrange over the small frames on the right side.
Ribbon 8: Resize 25%, place over top of the button.  Use the freehand selection tool with feather set to 1 and draw a selection around the excess ribbon, like this:
 Tap delete.  Don't worry if you remove a bit too much, or not quite enough, just use the raster deform tool to adjust it.
Sun: Resize 50%
Butterflies: Resize 20%
Watering Can: Resize 30%, mirror
Apply drop shadow to the elements: H&V 2, Opacity 50%, Blur 8
Make sure you're happy with the placement of all elements, then hide the background layer and merge visible.
Unhide background layer and add new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to move the bottom part of the mask up.
Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpg or png and you're done!  I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and I'd love to see your results!
Hugs, Carol
