Gorjuss Spring Bling

This tutorial was written by me on May 11th, 2010.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, including its various tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful PTU kit by Lynne of Baby Cakes Scraps called "Fairy Grace".  You can purchase this lovely kit HERE, HERE or HERE.

Template of choice: I used MC_Template36 by Melissaz Creationz

3 tubes of choice: I'm using the adorable art of Suzanne Woolcott, AKA Gorjuss.  You must have a license to use her tubes, you can purchase them HERE

Mask of choice: I used WSL_Mask41, available HERE

Font of choice: I used Oooh Baby

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 5

Let's make a new tag!

Place the mask in your PSP Masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the top layer.

Image > Canvas Size > change size to 650 x 650.

Add a new raster layer, flood fill with white and move to the bottom.

Activate the circle layer > Selections > Select All > Selections > Float > Selections > Defloat.

Open a paper of choice from the kit, copy and paste as a new layer.  Resize as desired.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Selections > Select None.  Delete circle layer.

Continue in this manner for the remaining layers, except for the frames and the brushes.  Flood fill these layers with a colour that compliments your tubes or the kit, I used #152a47 for the frames and #e6eef1 for the brushes.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer, place in the center of the tag.

Using the magic wand, click inside the left frame.  Selections > Modify > Expand > expand by 4.  Copy and paste a close up tube under the frame and resize as desired.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Follow this procedure for the right frame.

Open one of the glittery butterflies and resize 30%, then 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and position on the top left side of the tag.  Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen.  Duplicate, mirror and place on the lower right side (see my tag for placement).

Open one of the glitter flowers and resize as desired.  Sharpen.  Place on the upper right side of the tag.  Duplicate and move to the lower left side.

Open bcs_branch3 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the bottom, just above the background layer.  Sharpen.  Arrange on the right side of the tag.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange on left side.  Duplicate these two layers and flip.  Arrange as desired at the bottom of the tag.

Make sure you're happy with the placement of all elements then hide your background layer and merge visible.  Move your tag down to the center of your canvas.

Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Selections > Select None.

Apply the mask using these settings: Source luminance, fit to canvas, hide all mask, invert transparency unchecked.  In the layers palette, right click the mask and choose Merge > Merge Group.

Now add your name and all applicable copyright and license info.  Crop and resize as desired.  Save as a jpg or png and you're done.  Enjoy your new tag!

Hugs, Carol
