Bright Princess

This tutorial was written by me on May 31st, 2010.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful kit called "Little Mess" by Mandaz Dazzling Designz which can be purchased from Sunflower Scraps Boutique.  I really love this kit, the colours are gorgeous and it's such a bright, fun kit to work with!

Tube and close-up tube: I used the beautiful art of Shawli with a valid license.  You can purchase her tubes at MPT.

Template of choice: I used Template #29 from Scraps Dimensions

Mask of choice

Font of choice: I used AL Playbook

Plug-ins needed: Xero Porcelain and Radiance.  You can get them HERE.

Let's make a tag!

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Resize all layers 70%.  Image > Canvas Size > change size to 800 x 800 so you have room to work.  We'll resize later.

Add a new raster layer and send to the bottom, flood fill with white.  Delete the sd heart circle layer.

Activate the sd triangle layer.  Selections > Select All > Selections > Float > Selections > Defloat.  Open a paper of choice and paste as a new layer.  Resize if desired.  Selections > Invert > Delete.

Continue in this manner for the two circle layers.  Do not deselect after you've pasted your paper of choice for the sd circle 2 layer.  Copy and paste your close-up tube and place as desired.  Delete the excess.  Apply Xero Porcelain using the default settings then apply Xero Radiance using these settings:

I used some of the flowers from the kit instead of the flower layers, but this is up to you.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer, move to the left side of your tag.

Open a few of the butterflies, resize as desired (I resized 20%, then 70%) and scatter them around your tag.

Open Littlemesstag2 and resize 30%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the right side of the tag, see my tag for placement.

Open Littlemesswrap2 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move below the flowers and above the circles.

Add drop shadows to your layers, I used H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 6.

Make sure you're happy with the placement of all elements, then hide your background layer and merge visible.

Unhide your background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Selections > Select None.  Apply your mask.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the top, bottom and sides of the mask layer until you like what you see.

Hide your background layer once again and merge visible.  Activate your crop tool and click the Merged Opaque button on the far right side of the top tool menu and then click the green check mark.  Unhide your background layer and resize all layers to the size you prefer.  I resized mine 80%.

Add your name and use free rotate to rotate it 15 degrees to the left.  Place on top of the tag.

Add the copyright and all applicable license information then save your tag as a png or a jpg.  You're all finished!

Thanks for trying my tutorial, and don't forget to send me your results!

Hugs, Carol
