All The Cute Chicks
This tutorial was written by me on March 21st, 2010. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.
PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.
Scrap kit of choice: I used an adorable FTU kit by Teresa called Hunny Bunny. You can download from her blog, Scraps by Randy's Sin. Thanks for freely sharing your hard work with us Teresa!!
Tube of choice, I'm using the gorgeous pinup art of Babara Jensen with a valid license. You can purchase Barb's tubes at her website.
Template #49 by Melissaz Creationz.
Mask: I used Vix Mask 177, which can be downloaded HERE.
Font of choice: I used A&S Graceland.
Let's make a new tag!
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original. Image > Canvas size > change to 750 x 650. Delete the top layer. Scroll to the bottom and flood fill the blank area with white.
In the layer palette, click on lg circle. Selections > Select All > Selections > Float > Selections > Defloat. Open a paper of choice from the scrap kit and resize 70%. Copy and paste as a new layer. Selections > Invert > Delete. Selections > Select none. Delete the lg circle layer. Add a drop shadow to your paper layer, I used H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 10.
Continue in this manner for smaller circle, torn edges and rectangle layers.
For the rectangle frame layer, I added a new layer after defloating the selection and flood filled it with a colour from my tube. You may do this or simply use another paper from the kit.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer. Resize as needed. Using your magic wand, click inside the frame and invert the selection. Use your eraser tool to get rid of the part of your tube showing below the frame. Drop shadow the frame, I used H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 6. Apply a drop shadow of choice to the tube.
For the floral brushes layer, use your freehand selection tool to draw a selection around the bottom image, like this:
Selections > Promote selection to layer. Move this layer above the tube.
Adjust > Hue & Saturation > Colorize > Colorize each brush layer to compliment your tube or the scrap kit. I changed the hue to 234 and Saturation to 178.
Open rs_wreath and resize 50%, copy and paste as a new layer, place above the large circle. Add a drop shadow and duplicate. Image > Mirror, then resize 80%. Place above the smaller circle.
Open one of the baskets and resize as desired. Place on the bottom left side of your tag. Now add whatever elements you like, this kit has lots to choose from! I added rs_bunnycarrot, 2 of the chicks and a selection of the coloured and chocolate eggs. Resize them differently and use your Free Rotate tool to rotate a few of the eggs 15 degrees to the left or right. Add a drop shadow to each layer as you go. Arrange everything to your satisfaction, then hide the background layer and merge visible.
Unhide your background layer and add a new raster layer. Selections > Select All. Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection. Selections > Select none.
Apply the mask using these settings: Source luminance, fit to canvas, hide all mask, invert transparency unchecked. In the layer palette, right click the mask layer and choose Merge > Merge group. Resize the mask layer 85%.
Open a wordart of choice and place where desired, add a drop shadow. Add your name, I used papers from the kit for my FG and BG. Open the papers in PSP and minimize. In the materials palette, change the FG and BG to pattern and choose your paper from the drop-down menu.
Crop and resize your tag as desired and add any applicable copyright and license information. Save as a jpg or png and you're all finished! Enjoy your new tag and thanks for trying my tutorial!
