Love's Blush

This tutorial was written by me on February 26th, 2010.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Tools Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous PTU kit called "Blush of Love" by Lynne of Baby Cakes Scraps.  This kit is absolutely beautiful and has so many possibilities.  You can purchase from Aussie Scrap Designs or from Sunflower Scraps Boutique.

Tube of choice: I'm using the beautiful art of Jennifer Janesko with a valid license.  You can purchase her tubes from CILM.

Mask: Awesome floral mask from the talented ladies at Creative Misfits Creations.  You can download from their blog HERE.  I used FloralMask1byJenny.  Thank you for sharing your wonderful creations ladies!

Font of choice: I'm using Mon Amour Script Alt

Drop shadow used throughout (unless stated otherwise): H&V 2, Opacity 62, Blur 5

Let's make a new tag!

Place your mask in your PSP Masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 650 x 650, white background.  We'll resize later.

From the scrap kit, open bcs_round_frame.  Resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.

Using your magic wand tool with Tolerance set to 20 and Feather set to 0, click inside the frame.  Selections > Modify > Expand > expand by 6.

Open a paper of choice from the kit, resize as desired, copy and paste as a new layer.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Move this layer below the frame.  Do not deselect!

Open your tube, resize as desired, copy and paste as a new layer above your paper layer.  Place as desired within the frame and then hit delete.  Selections > Select None.

Add a drop shadow to your tube and frame, then merge these three layers together.

Open bcs_floral_doodle, resize 90%.  Copy and paste as a new layer above the background layer.  Image > Mirror.  Place as desired.  Add a light drop shadow to this layer, I used H&V 0, Opacity 25, Blur 8.

Open bcs_leaves and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer below the floral doodle.  Use the raster deform tool to angle the leaves to your satisfaction, then duplicate, mirror and arrange as you like.  See my tag for reference.

Open bcs_pendant and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the top.  Duplicate this layer and move the original below your frame.  Using your eraser, carefully remove parts of the chain on the top pendant layer so it looks like the chain is wrapped around the frame.  Apply drop shadow to the bottom layer only.

Open one of the butterflies, resize 30%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Image > Free Rotate > Rotate 20 degrees left.  Place on the left side of the frame.

Highlight your background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Selections > Select None.

Apply FloralMask1byJenny to your paper layer using these settings: Source luminance, fit to canvas, hide all mask, invert transparency unchecked.  On your layer palette, right click your mask layer and choose Merge > Merge Group.  If you use a light paper like I did, you might want to duplicate your mask layer so it will be more defined.  Resize your mask layer 90%.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Hide the background layer and activate your crop tool.  Choose the Merged Opaque button on the far right of the top tool menu and click the green check mark to crop your tag.

Resize if desired and save as a jpg or png file.  You're finished!  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and please feel free to email me your results as I love to see them and show them off in my slide show.

Until next time!

Hugs, Carol
