Shiver (PTU)

(Click on image to see full-size version)

This tutorial was written by me on November 16th, 2009.  Any resemblance to any other tut is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2 but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Tools Needed:

Scrap kit of choice: I used a beautiful PTU kit called "Shiver" by Baby Cakes Scraps.  This gorgeous kit is available for purchase HERE.

Tube of choice: I'm using the beautiful art of Jessica Dougherty with a valid license.  If you wish to use the same tube, you can purchase it HERE.

Mask: SL-WinterSeasonMask1 by Sabre.  I just love his masks, they're so beautifully detailed!  You can download from his blog, HERE.

Snow animation, included in download

Winter scene, courtesy of stock.xchng (included in download)

Font of choice, I used Scriptina

Plug-in needed: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow

Animation Shop

Supplies: HERE

Ok, let's get started!

Open a new image, 750 x 650, white background.  We'll resize later.

Open bcs_silver_wreath, resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, move to the right (see my tag.)

Open the winter scene, copy and paste as a new layer and move it below the wreath.  Use the raster deform tool to fit inside wreath.

Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize > Hue: 153  Saturation: 42

Open bcs_bloom, resize 50%, then 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Duplicate as many times as you like and place around the wreath.

Hide all layers except for the blooms then merge visible.  Add a drop shadow.

Make sure your merged layer is above your wreath and then Merge > Merge Down.  Unhide your other layers.

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer, resize if needed and place on the left side of your tag.  Add a drop shadow.

Open bcs_candles, resize 70% and then 80%.  Move to the bottom right side of your tag, add a drop shadow.

Choose some flowers, (I used bcs_flower_fiveA and bcs_white_flower) resize and scatter around the base of the candles.  Make some different sizes and mirror a few as well.  Arrange as desired.  Once you're happy with their placement, hide your other layers and merge your flower layers.  Drop shadow.  Make sure this layer is above your candles, then Merge > Merge Down.

Add any other elements you wish, I added the white butterflies.  Drop shadow.

At this point I resized my tag 85%.

Highlight background layer.  Choose a paper from the scrap kit, I chose paper 10.  Copy and paste as a new layer, resize if desired.  Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask From Disk > find SL-WinterSeasonMask1 and apply using the following settings: Source luminance, fit to canvas, hide all mask and invert mask unchecked.  On your layer palette, highlight mask layer, right click and choose Merge > Merge Group.  I then used the Raster Deform tool to pull the mask out so more of it is showing, but the choice is yours.

Add your name.  I used Scriptina, size 72, Stroke 1, FG and BG colour set to #21252c.  Place where you like and add a gradient glow using Eye Candy 4000 with these settings:

Under the Basic tab: Glow Width 3, Soft Corners 0, Overall Opacity 100.
Under the Settings tab: Choose the Medium preset.

Add a drop shadow, I used 2, 2, 40, 5.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.

Time to animate!

Open Animation Shop.  Find the snow animation and open it.  Edit > Select All

Back in PSP, hide all your layers except for the background, mask and winter scene.  Right click on your tag and choose Copy Merged.

Switch to Animation Shop.  Edit > Paste > As New Animation

Your snow animation has 10 frames, so your new tag must have 10 frames also.  Right click on your tag and choose Duplicate Selected.  Continue doing this until you have 10 frames.  Edit > Select All

Go to your snow animation and select Edit > Copy.

Back to your tag.  Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selected Frame.  Place your snow over the winter scene.  Don't worry if it overlaps a little because the wreath will hide it.  If you don't get it placed just right the first time, simply undo and place it again.

Ok, now back to PSP.  Hide your background, mask and winter scene layers, unhide all the rest.  Right click on your tag, Copy Merged.

Back in AS, go to Edit > Paste > As New Animation.

Edit > Copy

In the menu bar at the top, click on the Propagate Paste button, it looks like this:
This will copy everything on the clipboard into every frame in your tag so you don't have to duplicate to match.  It's a very handy little tool.

Edit > Paste > Into Selected Frame.  Carefully place the top part of your tag and when you're happy, left click.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're done!  Enjoy your new tag and thanks for trying my tutorial!

Hugs, Carol
