Garv Tease (FTU)

(Click on tag to see full-size version)

Garv Tease

This tutorial was written by me on November 9th, 2009.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

This tutorial was created using PSP X2 but should work with any other version.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and its tools/functions.

Tools Needed

Scrap-kit of choice: I used a FTU kit called "Flutterby Love" by Amanda AKA Tantrum.  This beautiful kit was PTU but is now FTU.  You can download it at Amanda's website HERE.

Mask: WSL_Mask84.  You can download this and many other incredible masks at Chelle's website HERE.  Thank you for sharing your time and talent with us hun!

Template: #282 by Missy at Divine Intentionz which you can download from her site HERE.  Thanks for another great template Missy!

Plug-ins needed: DSB Flux, Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow

Tube of choice: I'm using the incredible art of Keith Garvey with a valid license.  If you wish to use the same tube, you can purchase it HERE.

Font of choice

Animation Shop (optional)

Ready?  Let's get started!

Save your mask in your PSP Masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the copyright layer.  Image > Canvas Size > change size to 650 x 650.  We'll resize later.

Unhide the background layer, highlight it and using your Flood Fill tool, flood fill the empty area with white.

Highlight the Circle Cutout layer.  Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.

Open a paper of choice, resize if you like.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Selections > Select None.  Add a drop shadow of choice and delete the circle cutout layer.

Apply a light drop shadow to the words, hearts and pixel tease layers.

Highlight the Frame Background layer.  Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.  Open a paper of choice, resize if desired, copy and paste as a new layer.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Selections > Select None.  Delete Frame Background layer.

Highlight the Frame layer.  Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.  Open a paper of choice, resize if desired, copy and paste as a new layer.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Selections > Select None.  Delete Frame layer.  Apply a drop shadow.

Apply drop shadow to the large "tease".

Add your tube, resize as needed.  Duplicate and move one copy above and one below your frame.  Using your eraser tool, erase the parts of your tube you don't want to overhang your frame.  Use the eraser on the bottom tube to remove any bits showing below your frame.  Apply a drop shadow to the bottom tube only.

Highlight the Glittered Circles layer.  Selections > Select All > Float > Defloat.  Using your Flood Fill tool, change the colour to one that compliments your tube or the scrap kit.  Do the same with the Glittered Circle, Heart 1 and Heart 2 layers.  Apply drop shadow to each of these layers.

Highlight your background layer.  Open Tantrum_Flutterby_Glitter Trail, copy and paste as a new layer, place where you like.  I removed the bits showing underneath the large "tease" but this is totally up to you.  Duplicate this layer, Image > Flip.  Arrange the right side as you like and erase the extra on the left.

Add whatever elements you like, I used Flutterby Doodle, Flower 4, Butterfly 2 and 3.

Add your name, I used The Nautigal, size 115, stroke 0, colour black.  I then used Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow with the following settings:
I added a drop shadow; H & V - 2, Opacity - 55, Blur - 5.

Highlight your background layer.  Open a paper of choice from your kit, resize if you like, copy and paste as a new layer.  Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask From Disk.  Apply WSL_Mask84, Source Luminance, Fit to Layer, Hide All Mask selected, Invert Mask unchecked.  In layer palette, select Mask layer, right click and chose Merge > Merge Group.

Add the correct copyright and license info and resize your tag to a size you like.

Ok, now let's add some glitz!

Select the Glittered Circles layer.  Effects > DSB Flux > Bright Noise.  Set the intensity to 40 and click the Mix button once.  Now apply the same effect to the Glittered Circle and the Heart 2 layers.

If you do not wish to animate your tag, you may now save it as a jpeg or a png file.  If you want to add some glitter, let's carry on!

Open Animation Shop

Back in PSP, highlight the top layer in your tag.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In Animation Shop, Edit > Paste > As A New Animation

Back in PSP, click the Undo button until the noise effect is removed from the heart 2, circle and small circle layers.  Highlight the Glittered Circles layer and apply the Bright Noise filter again, same intensity setting but this time, click the Mix button twice.  Repeat for the circle and heart 2 layers.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In Animation Shop; Edit > Paste > After Current Frame

In PSP, click the Undo button until the noise effect is removed once again and repeat the above procedure but this time, click the Mix button three times.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged

Animation Shop; Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.

Click the animation button and take a look at your new tag!  If you're happy with what you see, save it as a gif and you're done!

Thanks for trying my tutorial!

Hugs, Carol
